paypal family/friends scam? on the buyers side?

i've been on here a long time, in my opinion, and not sure if it is still the case, but it seemed paypal f/f was the go to payment method for quite a while. i believe paypal f/f was used because, no fee but also because it was very similiar to paying with cash as there was no way to dispute it. however, my question is that recently i sold something to someone, not on this forum or even firearm related. he seems legit, but no phone call, andquite a few messages, he paypal f/f'ed me the agreed amout BUT he put in a message tied to the payment a detailed description of the item ( a kite, in this case) and his address. i have heard of buyers disputing charges with their credit card they used with paypal when using paypal family/friends. as in scammers as BUYERS, who then try to keep the item and get their money back. in fact the message pretty much said, "joe, here is the $xxx for the kite, please send to "buyers address"

it seems like he is setting it up as a goods/services type of payment but without the fee.

has anyone else heard of this or had it happen. i mean, where a buyer disputes a paypal f/f payment on their end? i am probably a little too paranoid

I trusted the local gunsmith for my pin and weld

So there is a local guy who came recommended, has good reviews etc. to do a pin and weld job. Below is the end result on my brand new Noveske Afghan Stainless barrel. Not sure if it's totally ruined yet, going to try and get a bore scope in it a look for sugaring and discoloring inside the barrel.

I put about 30 rounds through it, it's holding accuracy thankfully but the integrity of the Barrel is what has me worried now.

There was some excess rocksett glue that dripped from the barrel threads when I had dropped it off to him. He claims a lot of the dark spots near the muzzle device are just burned rocksett.

The only photos I have of the inside are with my phone, luckily no holes or visible bubbling.

Moral of the story: Send your stuff to Arco or D. Wilson

Beelit piston project

1929 Cleveland inline 4 cylinder.

The owner wants to throw "cubic dollars" at a project. This started with me having to grind a tool for cutting the ring pack grooves. .0375" wide with a 3* draft on the trail and side reliefs at 1*.

Then the fun starts... Designing/modeling. This is the roughing portion of the part as it runs through the simulator. The cusps are just from the tool's stepover. That cleans up on the finishing paths.

Op1 lathe parts off the machine. OD is to size along with the ring grooves.

Finishing. All that's left now are the drill ops for pin oiling and evacuation off of the oil control rings. The slugs are going to be left "long" on the crown side so that they can be sized accordingly on the deck height after the block is resurfaced. (were not part of any block work)

Sunday projects. . .fun stuff.

Gunsmithing Yes!! Yet another Bore Scope Pic Thread…oh joy! Haha

Yes, sad as it may be, this is yet another bore scope thread.

Before anybody jumps on me, let me please make a few opening statements:

  • Inevitably, someone will want to tell me to throw it away..please, do not…it ain’t happening. Haha I got this Teslong mainly to look for carbon ring build up (and educate myself on what that looks like) and mostly (really, almost exclusively) I use it to evaluate cleaning.
  • I’m not hyperventilating or panicking… “Oh my god, is my barrel ruined!!”. Not the point of this thread at all and absolutely not where I’m at.
  • MV has not declined and precision is still better than me…I cannot discern any performance issues at this time
  • Barrel is Proof SS 6.5 man bun at 25” with 2k rounds of mostly factory and some hand loads
So, what is the point of this thread, you may ask (or more likely don’t care! Haha).

Well, I’m trying to further educate myself and see if there is something to learn here.

Specifically, can anything wrt to remaining barrel life be determined from bore scope pics such as these. That is my only purpose.

Yeah, I get it….MV reductions or groups opening is the no shit “tell” for barrel burn-out. But can anything at all be projected from looking at these pics?

These pics start at the beginning of free bore and extends about 2 ½” down the barrel from there. Past that point, most all of the fire cracking and…what looks to me like…a bit of roughness of the edges of the lands is gone.

Can these pics tell an educated shooter or gunsmith anything at all wrt to remaining barrel life….or not, if that’s the correct answer?

So, here they are….

What deodorant do y’all girls use?

I’ve used the same degree advanced for years(12 probably), it the 48hr stuff that used to come in the orange package(applicator?) now it just has orange accents on the label . You had to really scrub to get it off and it worked great. The last 3-4 sticks it lasts a couple hours, and it’s like you never put any on I bought them in two packs and hoped the first was just a fluke.

It’s like they completely changed the formula it hardly has a scent compared to before.

What do y’all real sweaty mofos use? I don’t want to buy another bullshit stick.

Firearms Price reduced. Defiance deviant. accuracy international. 308

-3500$
-Defiance deviant action
-Accuracy international chassis
-Shillen barrel with approximately 600 rounds through it.

This is for the rifle only NOT the optic.

There is a scratch on the bolt handle and some marks on the reciever, from extracting cases.

A good friend (who worked at Brownell’s) and I, were on a state army shooting team together and he had the gunsmith at Brownell’s build this for him. He retired and I ended up with it, now I am going to retire and I have not put 50 rounds through it in the past two years, so she needs to move on. I had grand plans to do PRS but I just don’t have the time to make it happen.

I am open to trades however I don’t know exactly what I want. Looking more specifically for Maven optics. I like older stuff. Cz 527, 550. Don’t need any high end optics. Don’t need any ARs. I like HK,CZ, very random stuff and mannlichers.

147 eld match hornady

well that was interesting!!! loaded some eld match 147 gr hornady rounds to do a load test on my 6.5 creedmoor rifle. 20 thou off the lands. this is what i came up with. loaded 2 loads after that to try out. first 38.4 the second one 39.8 went shooting today with a friend at the 400 yard range shooting clay pigeons on strings with them. mind you i'am using a ibi 26inch barrel too. the 38.4 i was 6.5 moa up at 400yrds, the second set 39.8 load i was 5.75 to 6 moa up. interesting difference!! because my calculator says i should be 7.25moa up!!! would the difference be from the longer barrel or not, and should i go a little farther on the load test to see where there is pressure signs and if there is a flat spot? or should i stick with the 39.8grains and use that??? pict w is the shots at target top circle was at 6.5 moa up the circle closer to the bull was 5.75moa up. any ideas about why this is??? thanks guys

How to choose a custom action

Bottom line: info overload.

Looking for an action that 'feels' like my Bergara Approach which is about the smoothest out there I've felt. I've felt a few customs (GAP, Seekins, Christensen) and they actually weren't as smooth. The only thing regular I can get my hands on is whats in the LGS and suffice to say customs are pretty rare.

Which action has that same smooth as greased lightening feel. Thinking about doing some buying on Black Friday as my ATX ain't comin.

Night Vision Thermal Scope Recommendations

Hello Ya'll!

First time posting here, but have been reading the forum for years, so Ive got a pretty good sense that this group will be able to lead me in the right direction!

Im in the market for a thermal scope to aide me in predator control on my ranch. Last year was a bad one for livestock deaths due to predators, and with the dry year we have had so far, its emboldened the predators to come on over to my version of Costco.

My main predator issue is Coyotes. Given recent observations & sounds, there are probably at least 20x yotes wandering around. We also get frequent visits by bear, bobcat, foxes, and lions.

I can safely shoot out to 500yds on my ranch, most engagements with spot lights so far have been in the 100-200yd range.

I would like to be able to throw this thermal on everything from a .22 LR to a .338 LM.

I dont "influence" on social media so the ability to record video/sound isnt paramount, i really just need to get PID on these predators and neutralize them before they reach the livestock.

I was hoping to get a clip-on, but have since learned they may not be the best option given how theyre image could distort as I zoom in with my regular scopes, but ive never personally used one, so id love to hear opinions on them.

As far as budget, there isnt one for a good scope, last year alone I lost close to 8k in livestock (accounting for loss in profit as well). Ive convinced my accountant (wife) its a neccesary ranch expense, just now need to find the right one.

What do ya'll recommend?

Attention poors! I am the man with the golden gun.

Now we know why KAC guns are so fucking expensive.

This one that has 25kish rounds on it got a deep cleaning today as it was caked with carbon soot.

Once it was cleaned, the 24k gold KAC makes their bolts out of was revealed. I think I got the rose gold option, which adds 50fps.

So the next time you want to go on about how your dumpster fire bargain basement PSA gun is 'just as good', remember that my shit is made out of solid gold.

Pipe Smoker's Assemble

As much as I love a great Cigar, or an outstanding Gin, I've come to appreciate a hot black cup of coffee while smoking from a pipe. The simplicity and reliability that comes from a stick is amazing, but I feel the smoothness from the pipe just can't be beat.

Much like the sunglasses you wear, a quality pipe is an extension of your soul. Our current cigar thread tends to rise and fall like sand through an hourglass. She may die a quick death, but I'd like to see if any of you Gentlemen are into the lost art of pipe smoking.

My last purchase was a traditional Peterson 05 Dublin Addition. For the younger kiddos on the block, you are truly missing out on life if you wait till grey shows in your beard, before you pickup a pipe!

2A Grifters and Fair Weather Supporters

Im real tired of anti gunners that profit off the community. Idiots at BDU trying to use KRs likeness to profit, dan crenshaw and tim kennedy and their anti gun bullshit, the cucks a brcc fuck them and all the others.

Stop supporting these people, tell them you won’t support them by either not watching, buying, or send an email telling them to fuck off. I’m not purposely spending money with these people, wasting time listening to them, or watching them(which also gets them paid). Tell people you know to not support it.

Fuck Fudd types too, you support or you don’t it’s real easy there’s no gray, get all in or shut the fuck up because you aren’t helping anyway.

Sorry, went down a video rabbit hole of assholes but if you can think of anyone who profits off us not to support list them here, maybe someone doesn’t know they are really a twat.

.308 169gr BTHP

I bought some of the new 169s from Sierra. I’m loading with IMR 4064 loading to 2.800 which ends up at 2.150 BTO. As you can see the recommend starting at 43gr. However as I seat the bullet I can hear it crunching the powder. I backed it off to 42gr and still the same thing. I busted open a Federal GM 168 and the powder was clearly different, (which I expected) and wt was 40.7gr. Would the compressed load concern you? Thought?

Firearms JP LRP-07 6.5 Creedmoor 22”

SOLD

Note: I will only sell this to established members with 100% positive feedback for multiple previous transactions.

This is a new unfired, unmodified JP LRP-07 Long Range Precision Rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor with 22” barrel. I purchased this brand new a couple years ago from Brownells. The rifle has been in my climate controlled safe since. Includes everything that it ships with from JP: manual, sling, magazine, scope mount, cleaning kit, JP hat, hex wrench for adjustable gas block, and a rifle case. The case is actually too small for the rifle. The Magpul PRS actually sticks out one end and does not allow the rifle case to be zipped up all the way. Hahaha, kind of funny that this is how the rifle shipped from JP. You would be buying this directly from my FFL. So you would actually pay my FFL and they will ship to your FFL (I have done this with all of the firearms sales I have done on this site and it works well to protect myself and the buyer). Payment would be via credit card directly to the shop. I’ve worked closely with this FFL for almost 8 years, they are an actual brick and mortar shop. Please ask any questions you have before saying you want to buy it. If you want to buy it, please post an “I’ll take it” in this thread. Then I will follow up with an IM to give you the shop’s info and I will pass along your info to the shop. It might take me a few days before I am able to get the rifle to the shop. Not interested in any trades. Any questions, just ask. $3200 shipped to your FFL with full insurance. Thanks for looking.
