CADEX Lite Competition chassis for long action Rem 700's and clones. 3.850" CIP mag sleeve installed but I have the 3.715" sleeve as well. Like new, prestine condition. Sold the barreled action it was attached to (under 100 rounds fired in chassis) and no plans for another build but these are fantastic systems, got two other builds with Lite Comps on them.

Red Dot Pistol Question.

I'm wanting to retro fit my Ruger Security Nine with a red dot but doing so means removing the rear sight and installing a mounting plate.

So I'd like advice from experienced red dot users about how important it is to retain the rear sight and be able to co-witness. I realize that if the red dot goes down, I'm only left with a pretty crude point n shoot firearm.

This is my EDC and I'd like to get back to some IDPA also.

TIA for input.

NYFD Shutters 26 Firehouses Over Vaccine Mandate

As of 7:30 a.m. Saturday, New York City has locked up 26 firehouses due to manpower shortages blamed on the COVID vaccine mandate.
GOP Rep. Nicole Malliotakis represents Staten Island and Brooklyn, where five of the now-closed stations are located. If someone dies, she points the blame at Komrade de Blasio.
Just as a reminder, Komrade Bill gave New York City’s essential workers, including firefighters, a hero’s ticker-tape parade in July 2021. Today, many are fired. My, how the times have changed.

Rifle case suggestions. Hard cases only

ok so all of the cases i see even remotely close to what i need are $800+. To be clear there is not a single plastic box out there worth that in my eye.
so with that said, lets see what you guys know about that maybe i cannot find on google.

Rifle is exactly 50.25" long and from grip to scope cap is 12.5"

so for my comfort im looking for a case with an ID of 55"x 15" or better with customisable foam if possible.

Accessories SOLD WTS J Allen camo chassis $1400

Like it says, J Allen in camo. Bought this about a year ago from a fellow hide member. I've had a vudoo, impact and most recently a MACK SS action in it. All fit fine. Only reason selling, needed to lose some lbs and found a manners on Altus's sight yesterday and ordered it, plus i have 2 others, so i'm letting this one go. If you've never had the pleasure of being behind one of these, buy it. They are the best. Never been on a barricade as far as i know, I just shot off my bench. Very nice condition. Only trade would be an impact action w/magnum bolt. $1400 TYD. I'll take it trumps pm's

Which cz 457 to sacrifice?

I am in the market for a .22 bolt rifle to host a dead air mask and have been leaning towards a 457 w/ a krg bravo.
It will just be used for back yard plinking / target practice under 100yards and I’m interested in the 16.5” barrel. Is that a good choice as far as suppressing goes?
I’m wondering if one model is better than another? Is there a significant difference between the pro varmint & the at-one? I assume the action is the same and the differences are in the stock/barrel options?

If there are any other recommended/necessary upgrades , tips tricks or faults I would be glad to hear about them from people with experience with this set up

Suppressor suggestions

Curious to get some thoughts on what suppressor people would choose for my application.

Long story short, I bought a titanium suppressor many years ago from Crux, but wasn't able to receive it close to ATF's approval due to having to relocate out of the country for work. When I came back to the US, Crux was under new ownership, and was going to work with me to get my suppressor. They've recently gone dark on comms, I'm assuming at this point the titanium suppressor that I've paid for will never be in my possession. Now I'm looking for a new suppressor.

Here are some of my objectives/nice to haves:

- Main goal is for precision rifles, and will work on cartridges from 6BRA to .300NM
- Bonus if it works on ar15's and has the "standard" 1-3/8x24 - not a requirement, as I have a SiCo Omega that fills this role. However, if the wife and I wanted to both shoot suppressed ar15's, it would be nice to each have a suppressor to fill this role. This would not happen often.
- Having a good recoil impulse would be an appreciated feature - I know some of the newer suppressors are designed with this in mind
- Doesn't hinder precision - designed with precision in mind
- Repeatability
- Pretty new to the suppressor game, so I haven't really developed a strong preference in regards to whether I would prefer for the can to be more portable, or if I would want ultimate sound suppression. Perhaps something in the middle?
- Not being too heavy would be nice
- Budget ~$1000 or less. I don't have the fiscal flexibility that I once did, and it hurts that I already have around ~$900 sunk into another suppressor that I will most likely never see.
- 5/8x24 direct thread mounting.

Right now, the Abel Company Biscuit seems really intriguing and checks some of the boxes. Not sure if there are other suppressors that fill a similar role that I should be looking at as well. Curious to hear what others are using for a similar application.

Dear Poor people bringing your poor people children to my neighborhood to Trick or Treat

Dear Poors,

I know poor people do poor people things, which is why they're poor, so let me help you poors out a little.

If all of you over in Poorpersonville get together and decide that having Halloween on the 30th instead of the 31st for whatever dumb fucking reason is going to be a thing out of nowhere, make sure that you actually let all of the non poors know.

It's been indelible in my hippocampus watching the current and next generation of poors wandering around the 'rich neighborhood' (where you don't fucking live) with dumb fucking looks on their faces wondering why no one has any candy and why the streets are currently dark as fuck.

Go be poor somewhere else. Literally.

Sincerely,

The guy who actually turned all of the exterior lights to the house on and then 550 corded all of the gates leading to the front door shut.

Top four "switch caliber" precision rifle systems?

The practicality of a switch caliber precision rifle system interests me greatly, but I'm still doing research on the choices. Here are what I think are the top four currently available production rifle systems that appear to be thoroughly vetted (that's the key factor- a proven vetted system), but I want your opinion on this- what other systems should be on the list? I'm only looking to list rifles that are quickly caliber swapped (and easily headspace checked by owner if necessary). Feel free to change the order 1 - 4, and Thanks in advance!

Bad Brass or too hot?

So I’m super confused I have these 308 loads I did up 175 gr smk, federal large rifle match primer and 40.5 gr of IMR 4166. Not hot by any means. And now I have four cases (of about 30 fired) that have split like shown. No heavy bolt
Lift, no mushroomed primers, a little flat but that’s it.
So I have some sako game pro factory ammo that I’ve shot many times before and the cases are started to have marks in the same spot.
So I’m assuming the hornady brass from my reloads is a bad batch (this is all the second firing of it)
The slightly bulged case is a hornady
The pierced case is a hornady
The marked case is a sako
but am I also correct in assuming that my chamber is now cooked?

WTF Pistol Moment

I went to the range to do some final load development today. Since I was only shooting a few rounds through the rifle I brought a pistol to plink with to make the drive worthwhile. My dad brought an older browning buckmark .22lr with a cheapo red dot that he found in the back of the safe.

I'm a marginal pistol shooter. To say I'm an average shot would be generous. As soon as I picked up that little .22lr with the RDS I turned into John Wick. In other words, no (few) misses while moving fast enough to bring up my heart rate. Smooth, fast and accurate enough to drop panties. It was incredible.

So this begs the question... how much of this immediate improvement is due to the RDS as opposed to the fact that I was shooting a .22lr with a better trigger than my stock triggered glock? Should I be sending out my slide for machining? Or am I going to be disappointed when trying to replicate that performance with a 9mm regardless of what I do?

I get that I should be working on the fundamentals with iron sights, but this was waaaaay too much fun to brush off.

I didn't know I could buy ammo direct from CCI...

Went there to check on something and they have a store set up. Just bought a brick (10 boxes of 50) of .22 Magnum 30 grain VMAX for drum roll.......

$20 per box and free shipping! That's pre-COVID prices. Cheapest at ammoseek - $39.99 plus shipping

The catch (there's always a catch) ships in 15-20 days. I can live with that because of the price and also I'm not out of ammo.

Best,

JAS
