Maggie’s Funny & awesome pics, vids and memes thread (work safe, no nudity)

This exact thing happened to me about 20 years ago. The length of ladder above the limb was much more (I mean, I knew it was going to spring up) but it defied every conceivable metric and went up an incredible distance and I went directly to earth.

Zeiss Pro Series Tripods just Landed

You guys are funny with the OEM hate, you all use it in one form or another but find the excuse in specific instances to create a phony carve out.

A ton of guys have aligned with Leophoto among others including scopes. The S3s are the best bang for the money.

I wouldn't say it's simply OEM hate... Leofoto can absolutely build a decent tripod although some refuse to admit that because of the country of origin.

As I mentioned earlier the real question is what improvements were made to the Zeiss tripod line to justify the higher prices, and are those improvements enough to justify the premium, especially when you can pick up a 50% off Leofoto cert from a match or out of the PX for about $70 and thus get a very good deal on a tripod or tripod and head combo straight from Leofoto. Can't say I've ever seen Zeiss discounts that deep. Don't forget price is the primary concern for many buyers, so the Zeiss lineup needs to bring actual improvements to the table and not just new logos, blue accents, and a few cosmetic tweaks.

Right now the biggest benefit / improvement I see in the Zeiss lineup is the HD tripod, it's a 44mm 3 section inverted. A 3 section inverted will store and set up lower than Leofotos own current 2 section inverted offerings, and going to larger diameter 44mm legs will help keep some stiffness going from 2 section to 3 section. A 44mm 3 section inverted is a configuration which as of now Leofoto doesn't offer in their own lineup... But I have a hunch they'll offer one in the near future.

I would call that good service, but I bet they didnt pay out $1 more than they absolutely had to via your policy declarations. You were likely, through your policy language, covered for all of that stuff otherwise they wouldnt have paid it. I have coverage for all of that kind of stuff also. My broker is VERY thorough with my policy...and I pay out the ass for it.

I will say there is a reason there are a lot of lawyers that deal strictly with insurance companies and their tactics. People dont get awarded lots of money in settlements because the insurance company was dealing in an honest manner.
I guess my point was that it really does depend on the insurance company and the local agent. I had one company/agent that would only honor the parts of the policy that I called out, or filed under. They were completely fine with not paying for everything covered under the policy if I didn't raise it as a claim. USAA on the other hand, went out of their way to make sure we got everything our policy covered.

Point being, it was $ I wasn't aware of being covered, that they ensured we claimed. So, not all companies are inherently bad, and some go out of their way, looking out for their clients best interests. You just don't hear about it often, because mostly its the negatives that get voiced and repeated.

I see you read nothing from the thread and just came in to bitch.

I said that when you go shoot a bunch of .2-.5 moa groups that I pick the one that has least spread over chrono as opposed to discerning .2 moa differences in group size as meaningful data

I read enough of the thread to know you ain't talking anything about mixing brass lots like the OP asked. 😘

But your thought would seem to be that there is a powder node so to speak. A charge weight that is going to have less deviation than others. Or are we just sliding over to the random load chooser?

Honestly? Me.

When we had the wildfires of 2007 rip through our community (look up Westwood and 2007 wildfires), causing damage to my own home, USAA was there the day they lifted the lock down on our community (the one that was on the international news, showing literally rows of homes going up in smoke).

They not only helped us file the claim, but pointed out things we could, and should, claim, aside from the fire damage (lost food in the freezer from the power being shut off, the re-painting of the entire house, not just the corner that got scorched, or the dry wall and garage door that had to be replaced due to it being knocked down by the FD to get at the gas line in the wall that was on fire, professional house cleaning to get all the ash and smoke smell out of the house).

So, yeah, there actually are a lot of people that make claims like this. The problem is no one complains about good service, just when it's bad.

Howa 1500 tenon threads

I’ve got an old Howa 1500 I’m considering building a fun gun around. Now I’m well aware that the tenon threads are M26x1.5mm. Since I hate changing out the gears on my lathe for cutting metric threads I tried looking at the possibility of cleaning them out and cutting imperial threads. A quick google search has some people saying they just opened them up to standard Remington 700 1.0625-16tpi but the numbers don’t make sense to me. Depending on thread tolerances (metric 4H or 6H) the major diameter of the M26x1.5 threads could range from 26mm-26.42mm (1.0236"-1.0402”). So to clean them out the minor diameter of whatever thread I cut could need to be as much as the 1.0402” dimension, which 1.0625-16 3B doesn’t come close to.

So should I just suck it up and stick with metric threads or is worth looking at opening it up to something like 1.085-18tpi 3B with a minor diameter ranging from 1.0249”-1.033”? What experience does anyone have with truing and blueprinting these receivers?

New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me

There was a time when I went to a competition, and I shot really well, even placed 1st as an individual. Fast forward to the next year, for some reason, my rings had loosened. My partner shot really well, I did not. I discovered the problem at the end of the shoot. Wondered why I was shooting so bad. Turns out, the scope was moving all around.

The championship got away!!!

People trying to go interpret a bunch of half moa groups is a frequent occurrence on this site. I actually don’t think most realize they have no idea what was gun vs shooter at that small of a difference and would be better off picking based on the chrono at that level
What would one look for with the chrono to decide? Or do you just mean as a check of reloading consistency.

I have been one to point out the great lengths people go to in reloading for no good reason. At the end if the day each guy gets to cook his steak how he likes to.

I think when a lot guys find their magic load for a new barrel, it just represents what they were shooting when everything smoothes out enough to calm down.

So internment camps for anti-vaxers are still on

The shooter WAS Vaxxed. He’s hardly an “anti-vaxxer.”
Met a guy a few weeks ago that took it to preserve his carreer. He's only a few years from retirement. He's having a real hard time living with his decision. Hates himself because of it. He said at the time, he couldn't see a way around it. Now he wishes he'd just walked away from it all. Hindsight is always 20/20.
You can be a vaxed anti-vaxer.
I'm sure it made a lot of them.

Maybe because thats what insurance companies do... like 9 out of 10 times.

How many insurance stories have you read where the person was like "oh my fuck they gave me 125% value for my car that was totaled"? Most likely between 0 and 1...

How many insurance stories have you read where the insurance company offered like 50% value of the item and claim market rate, when everybody(including them) knows its complete horse shit. Then you take weeks on end, maybe a lawyer, etc... to get them to come up to a more reasonable number, which is generally probably still low.... My guess is a ton.

I think thats why people are expecting a hassle when it comes to dealing with insurance no matter the product being insured...

My guess is PV, like most everybody if they are honest, was under-insured, but possibly not due to the product they inventoried. Hell its possible somebody wouldnt even SELL them fire insurance and they could be royally fucked... no clue. If they have the policy limits and the live computer inventory of their warehouse it should be a pretty easy settlement. Stuff like the value of the building and other things will be where they possibly get into a tug of war with the insurance.
