New .22 actions still coming?

View attachment 8654074My 75 year old rifle and scope shoots 100 yd groups like ths in calm conditions. View attachment 8654073I get some like this. View attachment 8654072And an occasional one like this.

I bought 4 Vudoo rifles and none of them shot this well even after sending all of them in for lot testing of top tier ammo.

Not being critical of Vudoo at all. They all shot well. Just not as accurate as some older rifles. Probably accurate enough.

I simply think rimfire accuracy has little room for improvement. With no control over ammo we are about as far as we can go.
A lot of rifles shoot great just not in PRS off of barricades. It's the way we use the rifle that makes the difference. Before we started making PRS specific rifles back in 2020 there was no such thing as a PRS rifle. The accuracy is there if the proper components and process are used,

Arken 4-16 vs Athlon 4-14

You're talking about two low cost scopes that are about on par with each other. Get the one that has the bells and whistles you want.

Since you're online asking about them, I'm gonna guess that you've never had hands on either. The best thing you can do is try to get some hands on time with both and make your own decision. Or maybe order both and return the one you like the least.

I think the Arken is a bit more refined and you can feel it in the controls. I have two EPL 4s and I like them a lot, with one caveat. If you are going to be using rings on some sort of pic rail, you have to be sure that everything is perfectly straight. If it isnt, the parallax adjustment will bind up and you'll know it because the parallax knob with give you a clicking sensation when you adjust it. If youre going to be using a one piece mount, this will likely not be an issue.

If you need a sub $500 scope, id either be looking at one of the Arkens or the Athlon Helos 2-12. The Helos is a pretty nice scope.

Best 5.56 bullet for Coyotes

Coyotes may be hard to hunt, but they are not hard to kill. What ever works well in your rifle will kill them grave yard dead.
I find this statement amazing. Pound for pound a coyote is about the toughest survivor on the planet.
I shot critters in size from a few oz to 5 tons and never found anything as tough for its size.

New .22 actions still coming?

RTH1800 makes a very good point about older rifles. It's not necessary to have the newest or most popular model to get good results.

While new rifles may have more appeal for many, there are older rifles that shoot very well. Of course with any rifle, newer or older, it's always about the ammo. No rifle, new or old, whatever the make, will outshoot the ammo its given.

Below are some 100 yard ten shot groups with a rifle that's now 52 years old.

First a 100 yard target showing four consecutive ten-shot groups. The four group average is just under .700" center-to-center.

Some 100 yard ten-shot groups measured outside-to-outside.

Knights Armament SR25 6.5 Creedmoor

I am an AR armorer several times over, and I could tell the BCG was running crazy fast with my SiCo Omega. I took a SOTAR class, and Chad had done a lot of work on early SR25s that had issues. He said the easiest upgrade/fix is the Tubb spring. The difference was night and day. It should be standard from the factory, but Knights is all about standard springs.
I also shoot an omega on my large frame gasser. My last one (PWS) I went round and round with buffer/spring combinations and even went so far as to turn my own custom buffer. Ended up going to a PWS H3 buffer and a tubbs spring and it lined it right out. Shot better and just much more pleasant to shoot in general.

Now I've got an MWS, and in stock trim it just wasn't having the omega at all. After some digging here I found another member with an identical setup running a BRT 50/50 gas tube and a sprinco red spring and that's the direction I went. Long story short, it runs, but it's still not entirely happy. Another tubbs spring is in its future for sure. They're worth every penny.

Is the March FX 4.5-28x52 my new ZCO?

What’s the warranty on the March? Where does it get serviced? How long does it take on average when it does go in on average? If you want to be north of $3,000 those things matter, especially on resale with a scope that’s about to go out of warranty. - Richard
Personally, if I am north of $1 those things matter.

7-08 vs 7 SAW vs 7CM vs ? for Large Frame

I’ll be plenty happy with 2500fps from a gas gun with a 190gr A-TIP.

162s going much faster are no slouch either. External ballistics were really good when I looked at them, but nothing really sounds like 180-195gr momentum on-target.

Radar data for 162gr ELD-M is amazing even at 2500fps. Same with 190gr A-TIP or any of the high BC 7mms.
