20 years ago we worked for a local in North Texas that grew 16" alligators to 96" alligators. He explained he was a link in the chain. Louisianans flew the bayou, GPS located nests, then when season opened went and harvested eggs. Trying not to get killed by mom. Those eggs went to a hatchery. He said in the infinite wisdom of the federal government, a certain percentage of the hatchlings were returned to the wild. And that percentage was higher than what would have survived naturally. Of course, that creates an over abundance of alligators in the south.

I broke it in with cheap 55gr. fmj ammo and it did not particurly like it, hovered around 1.5-2" groups. About 100 rounds in I finally fed it some handloads and it perked right up. Just a load I threw together with no work up. Looks like it will hunt. This mirrors my experience with my 6mm Osprey, great accuracy in that one too.

Prefit on the Bighorn, really digging the .750 taperless. Seems like an ideal "hunting" weight contour as a suppressor host.

Did you weigh that 20” spiral fluted barrel before mounting it? Looks like a perfect size for a suppressed set up. What can is that?

Barrel vises and cerakote

It's very hard to protect the finish even with good preparation and tools. I have used leather , painters tape, cardstock, wood bushings and a few others with just about every barrel vise out there and its not worth the hassle.

Until that rifle slides down a rock, like what happened to my cerakoted hunting barrel 🤣

If I was to do it all over again, I would skip the cerakote even on my hunting rifle/barrel.
