NEW From Zermatt Arms - RimX Actions

Received my bolt replacement for my Rim-X 17HM2 build from my gunsmith yesterday.
Installed it per Zermatts instructions. I dont have a sonic cleaner that big for a barreled action so I used cleaners and compressed air

The gouging issue is still there
The first few bolt lock downs felt rough then smoothen out. Still hangs up occasionally. Pictures after 50 shots. Im able to use a nail file and scratch it still. Zermatt did not fix the issue. Spoke with Ray a while back, nice fella but not whos in charge. Not happy

Thank you for providing this feedback. Rest assured, we'll get it sorted out.

I'd like to send you a return label for your barreled action to bring it in for inspection to see what else may be going on. We have not seen anything like this at this point, so we want to see what else may be going on in your system.

Please email me - [email protected] - and we'll go from there.

What Optic Are YOU Running?

It sounds like there are some good reasons to at least consider a higher end scope on a rimfire gun.
One rimfire-specific scope "thing" not mentioned so far: the elevation turret on a match-use rimfire scope will really get a workout compared to centerfire.
  • With the commonly-used centerfire calibers in PRS-style matches, one will typically use a max of 10-ish mils of elevation; hotrod calibers 8-ish.
  • In the PRS-style rimfire matches I've attended, max range has been 375-415 yards. Dialing to 400 yards will take somewhere around 20-22 mils with popular match ammo brands. With more typical ranges 75-175 yards - not uncommonly in a single stage - one is still cranking through 5-6 mils.
Does the additional spinning of the turret on a PRS-style match rifle's rimfire scope really matter? I dunno. With mid- to high-tier scopes, I seriously doubt it. Low-tier? I would think tracking/repeatability issues would be more troublesome than turret internal wear.

Who said precision rifle is too fussy for the masses.....

M40a1 build guide

15 days early doesn't sound plausible for a joke. Day before April 1st or on April 1st....yeah I'm a stupid asshole....you got me. If sales guys are fucking with customers 15 days early. Boss might be like get back to work boys.

Plus there's been a scope sign up list thread for a while now.
Yeah, I doubt it’s a joke. The interest thread on here is different though, it wasn’t through USO. Now they could have gauged interest off of the thread for sure.

Pentagon deploys Navy destroyer for border protection

The USS Gravely, an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer most recently deployed to the Middle East, departed Virginia on Saturday on its new mission to operate in U.S. and international waters, according to the Pentagon.

This is a name with strength.

There was a garden tractor many years ago with that name. I stood in the back seat of a 1951 Packard driven by Mom looking out the rear window at Dad roading it home when he bought it used. Dad wouldn't let me use it until I was about 8 or so, and then only for mowing. Couldn't use the rotary plow until almost 12. Dad kept 4 pistons on the shelf in coffee cans, a 0, 20, 40, and a 60. Then he would buy a new cylinder, put it on and start over. My brother still has it.

The name is still out there in the garden tractor/mower world. But they aren't the same in my mind. Those old ones did everything with the available attachments. 4 bolts to hook anything to the front. The new ones units are way more job specific.

The one shown is little newer than the one I used, but you get the idea. If this destroyer lives up to it's name our Navy will have a good piece of equipment.

Bet there are a couple of other old farts that also remember these.

Thank you,
MrSmith

Climate Change

I worked with an entire team of PhDs at Chevron for years so the idea that the geniuses in here think scientists who believe in anthropogenic climate change are all leftists is hilarious to me.

I think almost everyone here had strong opinions about this article without even reading the article, or about the work the team that was interviewed for this article is doing, or for that matter what data is behind that teams analysis. They took a look at the headline and said "that data is bullshit".

If that's the level of analysis someone does when looking at a problem I don't think it's really worth talking to them about something complex.

My USAID contract for fedposting pro climate change propaganda in shooting forums still has 2 trillion dollars in it though so I'm not going anywhere patriots.
Honest question:
What lead to the exit of the last ice age?

Bench Primer

I'm not affiliated but there's also this one for ~$80 if one is on a tighter budget or just doesn't need any bells or whistles:

I've had nothing but good times with my PCPS. I'm not one of those guys who sweats primer depth too much... but I do love repeatability when it comes to reloading shit, and even though I still have good grip strength, better is better.

My former Frankford Arsenal priming tool was fast and good enough for me with all but the toughest brass (Alpha), and while doing 100-200 rounds at a time was fine, 200+ or larger batches... fucking sucked sometimes.

The PCPS is better and easier and no less fast (maybe faster).
I’ve been looking at the PCPS…….Carpal tunnel sucks.
