Like the title reads I'm looking for some quick data for a 16 inch 308 bolt gun. I'm trying to through together a quick hunting load for my brother in law. I have hornady brass, CCI match primers, 178ELDXs. I have imr 4064, H4350, Reloader 16, 4831SC and a hand full of other powders on hand. I can easily grab varget, CFE 223, and a hand full of other powders at my LGS. What do you suggest? Again this is a 16 inch bolt gun and he will shoot with a can 100 percent of the time. I have plenty of reloading experience, I have just never roled any 308. Forster dies are already on the way.

Wondering if others out there have worked out a good way to get shot-to-shot consistency with lightweight, heavy recoil hunting rifles.

Here’s the issue. Every training video you’ll find here shows folks getting tiny groups by firing 5 or so shots back-to-back without changing position (cheek stays on the stock, eye on the scope, only movement is working the bolt). I’ve never seen anyone shoot a hunting rifle this way. For one thing, a 7lb rifle with heavy recoil is going to move and need to be re-positioned. For another, a magnum sporter-weight barrel needs 5min or so to cool down between rounds (or at least mine do). If you shot them like Eric cortina, you’d have a burnt-out barrel and a lot of velocity spread from shoving rounds in a red-hot chamber.

I can consistently shoot 1/2 or 1/3 moa groups with little effort when I use “range guns” like 6BR or 6.5 creed’s with heavy barrels. You just stay in position and work the bolt with one finger like everybody does in the training videos. Heck, my $200 factory .22LR with cheap ammo and a crappy low-end vortex scope does 1/2moa 10-shot groups with no problem using this method. Getting good 5-shot groups from my 28 nos or 300wm is another issue. I need to shoot a round, stick in my barrel fan, chat with the guy next to me, then come back in 5 minutes for the next round. Some days, I’ll get a great group. Most of the time, I’ll get one or two outliers that turn my 1/2 moa group into a 1moa pattern. It’s kind of maddening when you’re trying to figure out if your load is off, or if you’re just positioned slightly different then your last shot.

Anybody have real-world experience getting consistently when you’re walking away from your rifle between rounds?

I am tossing around the idea of trading my Radix Precision 7mm SAW for a 2011 for USPSA Limited Optics. I initially had the rifle built as an all around deer/elk rifle with the intention of shooting NRL. We have a new baby, and i simply do not have the time to travel for matches, and another year has passed with no Elk draw lol. Details below.

Mack bros evo 2 SS
Proof 22" 8.4" twist with type 2 7mm saw reamer (RADIX built). Sendero light.
Manners EH1 with DBM (Type 1, integrated into stock). Stock has been painted in the seen camo, could probably be stripped by the buyer if wanted. I believe the original pattern is the white, orange and green splotches, i can't remember what they call it). Stock has the area 419 mini arca rail attached to it along with a spartan precision bipod inlet into the fore-end, i can include the bipod for the right trade). I believe the barrel channel was opened up a bit as it is a bit larger in the middle (pictured) than my proof.
Triggertech 2 stage (I believe it is the primary, i can pull the stock and check for interested buyers)
APA Cherry bastard muzzle brake (compatible with Plan B suppressor threads).
Hawkins Precision long range hybrid rings, i also have a 20 MOA rail that will ship with the rifle.
I have two seperate bolt handles that will ship with the rifle.

275 pieces of brass, over 200 are loaded at the moment. I can speak to my local FFLs and find out if they are able to ship them. Local in Nebraska, colorado, wyoming, south dakota or parts of kansas and i can meet F2F. Also have hornady dies. I have a few boxes of 150 ELDX i can ship if requested. I have only developed one real load with this rifle due to time constraints. with a 162 ELDM and h4350 I had no issues reaching 2750 fps out of the 22" barrel.

Trades interested in are a Vudoo Priest (#1 pick), other 2011s. Clip on/dedicated thermals, Tikka (shorter than 22" barrel) rifles in various calibers.

Will also trade for dedicated AR platform predator rig (6mm arc, 22 arc, 6mm creedmoor/dasher, some other calibers. Must be quality build, SoA or others.

Not sure where to put this so putting it here. I have a good friend that moved near Augusta ga and is having a hard time finding a place to shoot over 200 yards. I have found cool acres but they will not return phone calls(mail box is full) and haven’t responded to emails. Are they still open? Do they offer memberships? Are there any other places other than joe or Suzy from the supermarket that owns property to shoot? Thanks for your help in advance

Bought ~2000 of the Hoosier 220gr .309" diameter bullets to shoot in my 300Blk about a year ago (Ballistic Advantage barrel). Sold that upper and built another, and now the barrel is not liking them (V Seven).

sold This is a copy of the XM177 Vietnam era carbine with a copy of the period correct Colt 4x20 scope. 5.56 with 16" pinned and welded barrel and XM177 flash hider.
