So I have one of those novelty sweatshirts right here that says "alcohol tobacco and firearms should be a convenient store not government agency". So it got me thinking about how the main convenience store in my hometown when I was a kid did in fact sell guns and ammo. Granted it was literally called a general store and also included a very small section for movie rentals. Wasn't anything special, but rather the same type of cheap guns you would see at Wal-Mart back then.

So yeah, any of you guys ever have gun selling convenient stores?

A U.S. Navy guided-missile cruiser mistakenly shot down an American F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet over the Red Sea in an apparent “friendly fire” incident.
The two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet, assigned to the “Red Rippers” of Strike Fighter Squadron 11 from Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia, had just launched from the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman.
The USS Gettysburg, part of the same carrier strike group, erroneously identified the aircraft as a hostile target and engaged it, leading to its destruction.
“The guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg, which is part of the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, mistakenly fired on and hit the F/A-18,” Central Command said in a statement.
The Navy’s Central Command confirmed that both pilots ejected safely, with one sustaining minor injuries.

From the military’s description, the aircraft shot down was a two-seat F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet assigned to the “Red Rippers” of Strike Fighter Squadron 11 out of Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia.
It wasn’t immediately clear how the Gettysburg could mistake an F/A-18 for an enemy aircraft or missile, particularly as ships in a battle group remain linked by both radar and radio communication.
However, Central Command said that warships and aircraft earlier shot down multiple Houthi drones and an anti-ship cruise missile launched by the rebels. Incoming hostile fire from the Houthis has given sailors just seconds to make decisions in the past.
Since the Truman’s arrival, the U.S. has stepped up its airstrikes targeting the Houthis and their missile fire into the Red Sea and the surrounding area. However, the presence of an American warship group may spark renewed attacks from the rebels, like what the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower saw earlier this year. That deployment marked what the Navy described as its most intense combat since World War II.

The downed aircraft, assigned to the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, was conducting operations in a region increasingly destabilized by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels from Yemen.
According to the US CENTCOM:

“U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces conducted precision airstrikes against a missile storage facility and a command-and-control facility operated by Iran-backed Houthis within Houthi-controlled territory in Sana’a, Yemen, on Dec. 21 Yemen time.
CENTCOM forces conducted the deliberate strikes to disrupt and degrade Houthi operations, such as attacks against U.S. Navy warships and merchant vessels in the Southern Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb, and Gulf of Aden.
During the operation, CENTCOM forces also shot down multiple Houthi one way attack uncrewed aerial vehicles (OWA UAV) and an anti-ship cruise missile (ASCM) over the Red Sea.
The operation involved U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy assets, including F/A-18s.
The strike reflects CENTCOM’s ongoing commitment to protect U.S. and coalition personnel, regional partners, and international shipping.”

Critics have attributed these absurd mishaps to the U.S. Navy’s adoption of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs.
According to the Heritage Foundation, the Navy missed its recruiting goals by 7,000 personnel last year and has reduced its force by 21,000 sailors since 2021. Additionally, the Navy’s Military Sealift Command plans to sideline 17 logistic ships due to a lack of qualified merchant mariners, raising concerns about the impact of DEI policies on recruitment and retention.
Furthermore, some lawmakers and veterans argue that DEI programs divert resources from essential military functions and foster division within the ranks.
They cite data indicating that 62% of active-duty military members believe the military has become politicized, and 65% would advise their own children against joining.
These concerns are amplified by the Pentagon’s request for $140 million to expand DEI initiatives in fiscal year 2024, up from $86.5 million the previous year.

Selling 310 total pieces of once-fired 6.5 creedmoor brass. 30 pieces are Lapua, the remaining 280 are Hornady. All rounds were shot in an Accuracy International - Bartlein barrel. The brass is very clean. Not willing to separate the Lapua at this time. All brass will be sold together.

Selling a "G" prefix Remington 700 223 barreled action. The barrel is a factory Remington 20" 1:8 twist (threaded 5/8x24) that loves IMI Razor Core 77gr and will easily shoot sub MOA. The barreled action has approximately 500 rounds on it and will come as pictured with the 0 moa top rail and thread protector. Has obviously been painted.

Hard to get barrel, but finally got one in 20". Tested it versus a few barrels. I think its good.
Brux vs Bartlien vs Wilson Combat

The Brux shot 7/10 sub MOA 6 round groups and was very consistent. I got the Brux barrel from White Oak Armament. The Bartlien is from Compass Lake, and the Wilson Combat is from them. Tested with a variety of bullets, brass and powders to get a good idea of the overall performance. None of the loads were refined for any particular barrel, all loads were on a list I keep of loads that "tend" to be above average across many barrels. That N135 load of 22.7 seems to be excellent no matter what barrel I use, one of the very rare loads that doesn't care what barrel, but not absolutely. Another good load overall, across 10+ barrels is the FB Tipped 55 grain bullet and AA2230, 26.0 grains. All the ogives were dented too.

Brux expensive, but consistent and quality results, happy with that. I don't see the Brux listed anymore for barrel only, I waited many, many months to get that. I think I paid like $575 or something like that for it. While the Bartlien was like $750 because its fluted.

I could not post the target pic, because I think its too big.

Put this rifle together last year for a mule deer hunt and it was great, but I'm nuking a bunch of stuff to roll in an AI

Rifle shoots norma golden target 1/2 and hasn't been picky with handloads. I ran 135gr berger classic hunters in it for my mule deer hunt and it hammered.

Overall in good condition with small nicks and dings from hunting. The one annoying thing about this rifle is it feeds like crap from the current bdl box magazine set up. You can load one round into the mag and it feeds fine, more than that and it's a mess. Can be fixed with installing badger M5, just did the same thing with the wife's 6.5PRC and it remedied it. I believe you can also build a spacer for the rear of the BDL magazine to remedy it, but I'm just going back to all mag fed guns.

Glass, can, bipod not for sale at this time.

I picked this up for kicks and giggles but have another home defense style semi auto and this never gets touched. I shot like 20 rounds through it and that’s it.

Most of the available models I found online don’t have the telescopic stock so I’m not 100% sure on value.

How do the older Leupold Vari-X III scopes from the 90's compare to what's made today? I have a Vari-X III in 3.5-10 and a 6.5-20 with Duplex reticles that aren't getting used much and thinking about an upgrade. Not sure how desireable these are today.

PVA Osprey barrel for ARC Nucleus. I believe this would also headspace on an Archimedes or Mausingfield but I would need to verify that to be certain. Barrel is 18” and chambered in .308 Winchester. M24 contour, 1:9 twist, and 5/8x24 muzzle threads. 375 total rounds recorded.

I would also entertain selling as a barreled action with a gen1 Nucleus for additional funds.
