Have a 320 you no longer trust? Consider a Flux Raider.

Login to view embedded media Here is my review for those interested. TL;DW—it’s a really cool little PDW package. Nice to be able to drop a (non-RDS) carry or full length slide and FCU into it and have an easier to shoot package that can store 43+ rounds on board. Suppressed with the Wolfman I found that it gassed me out really fast, being so close up on it. All in all, if you have a 320 or FCU sitting around due to the current issues with the platform, this might be the ticket for you.

Can It Be Fixed? Buffalowinter???

Can it be fixed?!

This is a transferable, former movie gun, posted on GB. Seller (No affiliation and don't know) has 2 broken receivers for sale. EA receivers are cast, anyone know good AL welder, or would JB Weld work!! There are/were some Class 2's that have repaired forged receivers in the past but they are getting fewer and fewer.

Back in the day, John Norrell in Little Rock bought drums of de-milled M1-16 receivers and picked through them. machined, and welded 2 parts to create a transferable and he welded a bunch of receivers.
His welded receivers are hard to tell without a x-ray. Stemple is reported to have done some welded receivers also.

Optic choices for $3500 and less?

I’m currently assembling a rifle for my daughter and I (she’s 9) it started off as a bergara b14r in a MPA BA comp chassis and I’ve been spotting her impacts more than I’ve been shooting lately lol. So the plan is to drop a 6.5 creedmoor barreled action into the chassis and extend our ranges a bit.

-Gun Details - Will be a competition contour 6.5 creed 26”, MPA BA chassis, big horn orgin action etc. I want it 20lbs+ so she is extremely comfortable behind it.

-Shooting style - We don’t compete we just shoot for fun. I want the 6.5 CM to be a 1000 yard and in gun for her and my plans is to later have a 7ss, 7saum barrel spun up and stretch out to a mile.

-Conditions - We shoot no matter rain or shine but the optic must be good in low light as this will serve as a deer hunting gun as well (we shoot from a bench and tripods) we rarely walk over 100 yards to a stand so a heavy gun will not be a problem.

-Specifications needed - Needs to be FFP and in mils other than that the heavier the better. Considering the 7-35 magnification range this go around.

My experience with good quality glass is a leupold Mark 5 5-25x56 and a few lower end Night force scopes. The mark 5 does everything well so I would like a scope at least on par with it or a slight step up.

Optics Complete Hensoldt Spotter 45 Setup w/ Accessories 👀

Hi everyone. I have a turnkey, gorgeous Spotter 45 setup up for sale. This is a complete package, I'm not wanting to disassemble it. It was purchased new, by me, from EO (who also handles any service requests for them) and has only been used a handful of times. Otherwise it's just sat dormant in my smoke-free house on a shelf. I just am not putting it to use so it's ready for it's next owner who will be really able to use it to its full potential. I don't think there's much I need to say about these, they're the best of the best when it comes to tactical spotters and I believe they're discontinued for distribution in the U.S. so they can be tricky to get your hands on one stateside.

Package includes:

  • Hensoldt Spotter 45 / Tan / Horus 32 - $4330 + tax retail (have receipt)
  • Triad Tactical Spotter 45 cover in Multicam - $84
  • Badger Ordnance S.L.I.C.K.-H - $1300
  • Badger Ordnance S.L.I.C.K.-H "Catseye" cover - $185
  • Badger Ordnance S.L.I.C.K. Adapter Plate (RMR) - $50
  • Trijicon RMR HRS - $550

Total Retail before tax and shipping: $6499

Asking $6k + shipping.

New Rem 700 Light Strikes?

Got a new Rem 700 Long Range in 308. Really liking the gun so far, but I'm having issues with some rounds not firing. Been searching a lot, but I can't find good info on where to start fixing/how to diagnose what exactly is the problem.

Happens with factory AAC 175, 168 and Winchester M80 LC brass
Averaging 2-3+ fail to fire per box of 20
Already removed and cleaned the firing pin/spring assembly
Loaded the rounds that didn't go off 2-3 times and they still didn't fire

Fail to fire on top, fired rounds on bottom. Maybe some flattening and slight cratering?

20250316_085301.jpg

Bolt face has brass marks and what appears to be slight brass shavings?

20250316_085327.jpg

I'm wondering if the brass shavings are simply getting into the firing pin and impeding it's travel, or if I have some other issue like bad firing pin dimesions or over pressure or headspace.

Do I just buy a new firing pin or spring or see if Rem will send me another bolt assembly?

Thanks for any help. Here is the gun:

Spotting scope info

I’m looking at spotting scopes and need some user input. For my use, they may not even be feasible. So here is my situation. I’m wanting a system that would allow me to see 6.5 hits at 550+. My shooting is off a bench or a rest and would not be used in the field or for hunting. I’m looking at the Swaro ATX 85 and the Kowa TAN-88. Would these be capable of picking up 6.5 holes at the ranges I’m looking for? If so, can you actual users give me your thoughts on the two mentioned. I’ve visited with the folks at Cameraland and they are very high on both. What say you guys? Thanks any input you can give me.

If you are going to use Hodgdon powder I would recommend H1000 for barrels 26"+ and H4831sc for 24", Retumbo seems too slow.

Max for H1000 is going to be about 65.5 (start at 61) and with H4831sc max is about 62.5 (start at 58) with 180 class bullets, as always work up to these loads. Note that is in a long action with bullets seated long with 0.180" freebore. If you are in a short action with a shorter freebore then your max load and starting load should be less.

Trim to length for brass is 2.025"

26" long barrel
Brass: Nosler
Primer: CCI BR2
Powder: 65.5 H1000
Bullet: 180 Berger VLD jammed 0.010" into the lands 3.025" OAL 2960fps

24" long barrel
Brass: Nosler
Primer: CCI BR2
Powder: 62.5 H4831sc
Bullet: 180 Berger VLD jammed 0.010" into the lands 3.025" OAL

24" long barrel
Brass: Nosler
Primer: CCI BR2
Powder: 63.0 H4831sc
Bullet: 180 Berger Hybrid 3.060" OAL

I am in the process of building my first rifle and decided to go with a 7RSAUM. I am wondering what data people have on 168s. I need help to know what specs I should make my dummy rounds to. I am using Nosler brass and Berger hunting VLDs in 168. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks

Brownells has sent notice to all that have Remington 7mm RSAUM brass on backorder that Remington is not going to supply this brass and all backorders are being cancelled. I spoke with Brownells and they say it is unknown if Remington will produce it at a future date but at this time Brownells has deemed it discontinued. The website still shows a "notify me when back in stock" option but Brownells says this will be removed.

Here is my 7 SAUM load:

180gr Berger Hybrid (which I point)
62.0gr of Retumbo
2.950" OAL
Fed primer
Nosler brass

In a short action, DBM rifle w/ a Krieger 9 twist, 26". Does 2900fps at the muzzle, SD 10-ish.

The pointed Hybrid increases the BC by ~5%, to 0.70 G1 BC.

Love the rifle, cartridge and projectile. Finished top 5 at ASC with it. Had a 3rd hit at 1960yds (still looking for a >2000yd hit). Absolutely pounds at a mile.

For guys looking for brass, Bullets.com has a good stock:

bullets.com/search?s=category%3abrass&s=cartridge:7mm+SAUM&o=1

Not cheap stuff, but the brass, loaded to moderate pressures, lasts a long time. In the long-run, get good stuff, take care of it, and you will get many many more hits than with cheap-o brass. Hits at long range all all about getting the ES/SD of MV down, and good brass is the quickest route to that outcome!

Guys with the 6.5 Saum are claiming 2500 rounds/barrel using H1000. Are you seeing this kind of longevity?

Wish I shot enough to drive that many rounds thru my rifles. I just don't have the time to get out that much. My 7 SAUM has 1000 rounds on it and it shoots great, no sign of wear. I don't abuse it however.

what are your thoughts on H1000 with 162 AMAX or 150LR Accubonds. My hunting rifle is a Crescent Customs 7SAUM with 25" #3 Bartlein. right now i am at 59g of h4350 with the 150LR AB = 3054fps

I would think H1000 would be a tad too slow for those lighter bullets. Folks get excellent results with H4831SC and the 162's but I've only shot 168's and heavier out of mine and since I have a bunch of H1000 that is what I use. Picked up some Retumbo recently to test as its burn rate is close to Reloder 25 which has yielded decent accuracy potential but I don't like the temperature shifts up here at 7500'! H1000 will certainly push the lighter bullets out but I think there are better powders for the lighter bullets.

Haven't been able to get my hands on H1000 so picked up some of IMR's new 7977, it's just above H1000 on the burn rate chart. Anyone done any testing with this? I've found some data for 7MM RM and was going to use the minimum for that as a starting point in my 7SAUM with 168 VLD Hunter and 180gr Hybrids.

An acquaintance has used this with great results in a 6.5 SAUM. Said his loads were identical to H1000. As always work up but his reports were that it was interchangeable for that caliber.

Just finished a 7mm SAUM build on a Tikka action. Pics and details on page 11 of Tikka T3 thread in Bolt Action sub forum.

27" Bartlein

Norma Case

RWS LR Primer

Berger 180gr Hybrid

COAL 2.950" (15 thou off the lands)

62.3 gr Retumbo/AR2225 (for aussies)

2900fps

Put 8 shots into .393" at 100 yards, bipod and rear bag off bench.

Shot a comp on weekend at 300, 400, 500 yards. Load appeared to work OK at these short distances

7mm SUAM will feed out of Accurate 308 AICS mags, mine have no front plate. I could fit 8 in a 10 round mag. No feed lips or other mods needed.

I'm in the beginning phase of a new build and I know I want a 7mm something , what kind of barrel life can I expect from a 7SAUM and what DBMs work best with this cartridge ? . I'm hoping the Alphas are GTG as I don't think they need any modifications .

Excuse me if this is the wrong section to post these questions but I want opinions from people with real experience using this cartridge .

Thanks !

Re: 7 SAUM

love this cartridge...

26" barrel on a 700 short action...

168 vld

4831sc 60 gr

Rem 9 1/2M

2865 FPS

couldn't find the next node

180 Hybrid

H1000 64.0gr

CCI BR2

2895 fps

.75" groupings

180 Hybrid

Retumbo 65.3 gr

CCI BR2

2930 FPS

.65" MOA out to 1000 yards...

so alpha mags are the way to go...

1700 rounds down the barrel... and still holding under 3/4 moa consistently

what is the trick to building this on a Long Action?

Firearms 338 Lapua Magnum

Custom, 338 Lapua Magnum built completely by Mark Hostetter.
