Double Standard

Daniel Penny was attacked by a lunatic on a subway and defended himself and saved others in the process. His actions resulted in the death of the suspect. The media was painting him as a vigilante.

Karmelo Anthony was sitting in the team tent of the opposing team in Frisco and one of the players, Austin Metcalf told him he was in the wrong tent. So, Karmelo puts his hand in the bag he was carrying and says "put hands on me and find out what happens."

Austin touched him and then grabbed a bit more firmly to move him out of the tent. Karmelo pulled out a knife and stabbed Austin in the heart. He died there, in the stands, in his twin brother's arms.

Today, his bail was reduced to $250K and people were happy about that.

To cap it off, Daniel Penny, who is white, gets labeled a vigilante from protecting himself with his bare hands (arms, actually) from a crazed black attacker.

Karmelo brings a knife to an athletic event and purposely seeks out the team tent of the opposing team and decides to sit there and not move when asked to leave. Karmelo is black and stabs Austin, who is white, and kills him.

Admits it to police, too.

And people are happy that he is released.

55’s not fully cycling in 223 Wylde 18”

My boys wanted me to start loading some bulk 223/5.56 rounds so they can do more shooting with their AR’s.

I put together several loads and tested them at the range yesterday. All functioned fine except the hornady 55 FMJ’s. While they actually gave one of the best groups of the day, they failed to cycle properly. Most would eject and reset trigger but failed to strip next round. This happened with multiple mags. Several would try to strip next round but road over the rim of the case and cartridge was bound up between bolt and chamber. I’m not sure why, as the velocity average was 2905 fps from my 18” 1/7 twist BA 223 Wylde barrel mid length gas, standard gas block and carbine spring/buffer. Any thoughts what the issue might be. All the others functioned fine.

Here are the loads:

Hornady 55 grain FMJ
R-P cases
CCI 41 primers
OAL- 2.204”
Lee Factory crimp in canalure.
TAC 24.5
V= 2905 FPS

SS-109 62 grain FMJ (pulls)
IVI 85 NATO cases
CCI 41 primers
OAL- 2.243”
Lee Factory crimp in canalure.
TAC 24.5
V= 2849 FPS

SMK 77 grain HPBT
R-P cases
CCI 41 primers
OAL- 2.26”

Barrett m99 real word opinions

Hello like the title says I anm eyeing a m99 in .50 and was curious if they are worth a crap or not. I hear mixed reviews that they are not accurate and they are accurate. I am thinking of one for fun, slamming metal targets at 2k yards maybe a random hunt for bear if I feel like doing something stupid. I would like it to hold about a 1-1.5 moa ish group out to distance with factory loads such as the Hornady a-tips.

Does anyone have any pictures or accuracy reviews of a m99?
Thanks !

Suppressors Input on Suppressor for 357 lever gun & PCC

I just picked up a Marlin 1984 SPL in 357/39 SPL, which is just as beautiful of a rifle as I'd hoped it would be. The only 9mm suppressor I currently have is an AAC Ti-Rant 9, which is very quiet but I'm wanting to get something that can handle 357 mag and that is a little better tailored to this application. I'm wanting something shorter and fatter that will add less length and hopefully still be about as quite as my Tr-Rant 9. I would also use the can on my 9mm AR and potentially on my 300 BLK AR and Ruger American. I already have an Omega 300 that I assume would probably work better on my 300 BLK, but it would be nice to get something that can be used with 300 BLK. I plan to only use it direct thread and not get a piston set up as can just use for handguns.

The shop I picked up the Marlin from tried to convince me to buy the Rugged Alaskan 360, they had it in stock in both steel and titanium version. The steel version is actually still light weight especially if I get a titanium direct thread rear end cap. But everything I've heard in the past is that a "Do it all can" won't be as good at anything as a can intended for that purpose. Would the Alaskan 360 actually be as quiet on 38 SPL and 9mm as a can built with the primary focus on being a 9mm PCC can like the OCL Lithium 9? I'm also assuming it wouldn't sound as good on a 308 or 6.5 bolt gun as my Omega 300. But the reviews I've seen claim it sounds good on just about everything so that has me tempted. If I get a dedicated PCC can I'll end up getting another 30 cal can at some point so I can have more than one rifle suppressed at a time when shooting rifles.

The main PCC cans I am thinking about:
  • OCL Lithium 9 - Very light weight and a good price for a full titanium can.
  • AB F4L 9mm - Very light weight and good price. Con: it's not rated for 300 BLK supers.
  • YHM R9 - It's heavier than the rest, but very short, it's the cheapest and all the reviews I've seen on it are very positive.
  • Energetic Sonus 9 - This doesn't seem to be as good of a value as it's heavier than the Lithium of F4L and cost just as much. But the wipe holder in the end cap has me wondering would it be worth it to be able to run a wipe sometimes for shits and giggles/wow factor on being crazy quiet. But part of me thinks that just gimmicky and I wouldn't actually go through the trouble of running a wipe after trying it once.

Hawkins Hunter Mag feeding issue???

Having feeding issues with Hunter magazine running 7-08. 308 feeds fine from this mag but the 7-08 is a no go. The first round feeds but all the others are taking a sharp nose dive into the front of the mag. Contacted Hawkins and sent mags back for evaluation to have them say that they are within spec and found no issues but also told me they did not have 7-08 to test with. FWIW, AICS mags feed flawlessly. What you guys think? https://share.icloud.com/photos/06dRwPA89VX4gD8toIsfxWiSg

Accessories FN Magazines Five-seveN MK II 5.7x28 15-20RD & 3-10RD Package! - OEM - $450

Very little use if any on these MKII magazines. To be honest it’s just too much trouble to try and sell them individually so I am selling as one complete package, 15, 20-round and 3, 10-round magazines, 18 in total. Why spend your range time loading magazines? Load them up in the comfort of your own home and spend your time at the range actually shooting! This is great package for high-volume Five-seveN shooters! I’ll cover shipping/Insurance in CONUS. No trades, thanks! $450 takes them. PPFF or Zelle.
(These retail for $50 a piece.)
