Night Vision EOTech ClipNV vs. L3 CNVD-LR

Because… why the hell not?!

Basically, there really are no compelling reasons to go with weapon mounted Night Vision over thermal. You can make the age old argument of PID, but for hunting hogs and yotes, and other things that go bump in the night, there really is no substitute for thermal. PID on those critters is mostly a joke.

But, since we happen to have a few Night Vision clipons, we might as well see which one is the best of the best at coming in a distant second place to thermal. Some of you might complain “Horta! The CNVD is an LR, but your ClipNV is an SR, so this is an unfair comparison!“

Shut your pie hole, Karen! We don’t care about your little limp wristed complaints here in Hortaville. Get back to us when both your testicles have dropped!

The real fact is, both of these are basically priced identically. The LR version of the ClipNV is another $2000 on top of the SR price. I paid almost exactly the same price for these two units, hence the direct comparison.

ClipNV has a 2835 FOM Elbit WP tube. L3 has (of course) an L3 WP 2376 MIN FOM (no sheet) tube.

We’ll be putting both in front of an SB 3-27 scope tonight and find out who’s more well-endowed. The ClipNV is designed for 1-12x scopes where the 2124LR should push past that with little problem.

As you can see by the faux toes, while the L3 is considerably longer than the EO, the L3 actually weighs a fraction of an ounce LESS(!!). The EO is hewn from a medieval blacksmith anvil and feels just like the PVS-22 of yore. You could drive railroad spikes with this thing. The L3 feels more “delicate” and I wouldn’t want it to fall off the table.

SOLD Hog rifle 700, Cadex, N/V

Selling a great hog set up. Rem 700 AAC-SD 308 cal with Timney trigger, and 20" 5/8x24 threaded barrel that has under 600 rounds fired.
This is set in a Cadex dual strike folder, with a Raptor N/V on top for a dedicated after dark shooting rifle. This is a realistic 350-400 yard and in N/V sight without illumination. I have moved to all clip on N/V and Thermal nowadays, but at a much different cost.
Not a safe queen as it has had some adventures, but is in great condition still.
This poor rifle has been just sitting and not getting any exercise at all.
Price $3000 shipped but insurance on buyer if desired.
Will not separate unless all pieces are spoken for.
Trees are 207 yards away
One tree pic is with civilian DBAL illumination
Wood fence posts 453 yards away
There was no moon out in these pictures, it was a dark night.
Barreled action with Timney trigger $550
Cadex Dual Strike $1150
Raptor $1650
Individual pieces do not include shipping

SOLD Athlon Ares ETR 3-18x50 Mil in Warne Mountain Tech Rings

Athlon Ares ETR 3-18x50 with Mil reticle mounted in Warne mountain tech rings low with MKM bubble level. This is my second Ares ETR and I picked it up on impulse when I couldn't believe the sale price EuroOptic had them for, but I have more scopes than I have rifle to put them on and don't actually need it. In like new condition; just mounted din rings and taken for one range trip.

Awesome scope that punches well above its price point especially if you pick it up at this price.

$620 shipped for just the scope or $720 shipped with the rings and bubble level.

The Mil version is out of stock and even if you did pick it up at the sale price it cost more than this after you add in tax.

Barnard S heavy (ier) bolt lift

Hi
I got a used Barnard S rifle. Tested it out and seemed fine.
Now, if I close the bolt and lift it, there's just a tiny lift pressure. More or less the same as my other Zermatt rifle. If I close the bolt, pull the trigger, with no round in the chamber of course, the lift is considerably heavy than without pulling the trigger. Is this normal? What causes this?

Thank you
