After a long time away from the sport, I’ve now come back to shooting and have been reinvigorated to do some projects I’ve been meaning to for quite a while.

I have an Anschutz 1517 MPR in 17HMR that I use for zapping all manner of small pests, it current wears a Bushnell 4200 6-24. Id like to replace the scope with something a bit more forgiving eyebox wise, I’d also like something with a bit more field of view.

I have a Mark 5 3.6 -18 on a 6.5 Prc hunting gun that I enjoy, so when I heard the Mark 4HD shared the same glass quality I assumed I would buy on of those. I started looking and found some pretty solid deals on the Zeiss conquest v4s in 6-24.

From what I can see it’s sort of a horse a piece, but I have read a bunch on each and haven’t found a clear winner. People like the glass quality on Zeiss but complain about high power optical quality and a tough eye box at higher magnifications. The leupold appears to have good reviews but it’s new so not loads and loads of reviews to parse through.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Obviously the Nexus hasn’t been released yet but looking for any advice on a top of the line press. Anyone the has a Zero and considering switching to the Nexus? I complained to the seller and he said I must have broken it and refused to give me a refund. I returned it to Zeiss and they're fixing it under warranty. Barrel has been dimpled for the gas block and the carbon fouling verifies good placement. Block and tube flow air freely when off the rifle as well.

At every click of the AGB, there is no lock back on an empty mag and no chambering of the next round in the mag. Doesn’t matter if Pmag or Okay Industries steel mag or Duramag. Doesn’t matter, won’t work.

I’d be grateful for any insights on what I can do to improve this thing other than disassembling and adding to the parts bin. I have a ton of different 300 ammo, can’t get subs or supers to work right.

Aero customer service suggested it was overgassed a year ago or so, but I can choke the AGB down to where there’s no ejection at all so I just don’t think that’s the problem. If there’s a comprehensive thread somewhere about 300 builds I’d love a link. Thanks for any help. I’m about to give up on it.

A few years ago, Sierra came out with the 169 SMK in an attempt to iron out the short comings of the 168 SMK especially past 800 yards.

Has anyone worked up any loads for .308 with the 169's that they have shot past 800 yards? Do share.

My pet load for .308 WIN 168 SMK's (300-600 yard) in a bolt rig is: 45.0 grn of VARGET, Lapua Brass, Wolf LR primers. 2.800" or mag length.
Barrel: 1-11 twist Bartlein (30") with 95 Palma chamber.

I hope to use the 169's with a similar load and have it print well at 1K. -S
