Stupid idea of the day….Sig Cross in 6.5 Creedmoor for comp use?

So I already can guess what the hide community will think about this one, but my local gun store has the ability to get me a new Sig cross 6.5 Creedmoor for a decent price with the LEO discount. $1400 out the door.

I personally just think they look great and I like the design features, folding stock, 60 degree throw, 3 lug bolt, and ability for the end user to be able to change the barrels easily. Coming from the AR world that familiarity is a draw too. But I want to get a bolt gun to shoot long-distance with and get into some local ish competitions. I’ve never done any formal PRS type shooting before. Match ammo is obviously available, not cheap but available. And I do reload already so that won’t be an issue if I want.

Clearly the major con would be it’s lightweight rifle and it shoots a 6.5 Creedmoor, which makes recoil management and the ability to see trace, harder compared to 6mm guns.

I don’t hunt so it’s really it’s only purpose will be a fun range or comp use gun.

So is this decent idea or just a misguided direction for my funds? Thanks

DNT is gonna let us do a reticle

Last week at SHOT I met with the folks at DNT Optics. Looking at the products, they are gonna do a SH Package to pair several models like the 7-35x, 5-25x and a 3-18x. With that pairing I suggested a reticle for the members. I was thinking we can do one like the old IOR build where we all throw an idea into the pot and boil down a winner.

So with that said, what elements in a reticle would we like to see,

1. Floating Dot

2. XMAS Tree

3. .2 vs .25

4. What above the center crosshairs

So let's discuss ....

Geometry question.... Angular movement

I'm old and my geometry is long gone. Weird question I cannot answer.
For sake of argument lets assume a rifle will put every round though the same hole......
What amount of movement at the bench would cause 1/4" impact movement at 100 yards? 1/16", 1/8"??
I've long forgotten how to calculate this. Maybe some of you big brain, smarter guys can tell me. Thanks.

AAC Restoration Program - Feedback?

You may have read my other Thread looking for the best place to have several of my suppressors modified to HUB mount capability.

Well, one of my suppressors is an AAC 762 SDN-6 and I have noticed that AAC offers this service and more for my suppressor....more meaning that they say it will be shorter, lighter, less blowback, and 300WM rated!!! Seems great...but is it $700 great???

I am curious if anyone has had this work done by AAC and can provide feedback?

Sidearms & Scatterguns Beretta Sight Stupid Question

Probably stupid but want to make sure before I go about buying and replacing sights. I have a Beretta 92F that I'd like to put new night sights on but only see sights marked as 92FS or 92 series. Would any of those work? Like these...

Firearms FN 5.7x28 MRD

I have a like new FN 5.7x28 gen 3 MRD optics ready pistol with a trijicon rmr I traded for that just sits. It’s got a baldor light/laser on it and also has a kydex iwb holster that accommodates the light as well. Gun only has one mag, can’t find the other one to save my life. Would consider trades on hk pistols, staccato, 2011’s that take Glock mags, pre lock smith revolvers, and possibly other trades. $1300 for the whole package. Will add boot as needed. Will trade for Nightforce and Leupold MK5 optics as well

Suppressors Travelling overseas with supressor

Sorry if this has already been asked and answered previously but I've searched and have not found anything regarding traveling with a suppressor from the US overseas, plenty of info for travel between states etc.

I travel regularly to Europe for both business and to see family and would like at some point to take my 338LM with suppressor with me. I figure I will need to make certain I can legally have it with me in my country of destination, which I can handle. What I haven't been able to find is any clear statement regarding temporary transit of the suppressor from the US to the other country.

Is this getting me in to ITAR territory where I need to go in to State and/or DTC for approvals etc.?

Any help here much appreciated and thanks in advance.

Straight-Pull? Which is the best?

So straight-pulls are gaining momentum in the U.S... Blaser, Strasser, Beretta and now Savage!
Here's where I need help with the pros/cons if you have experience with them.
Blaser and Strasser are starting out around $4500, but have the backbone of German engineering that you just can't beat. However, Beretta and Savage have a significant price drop for their straight-pull lineup. I think I am going to cut Savage out of the running because of the machining issues, bolt issues and bolt being blown back that I have heard about. The Beretta has me intrigued because the price is very reasonable and seems to provide a lot of nice features, but what am I missing?
Lets compare a Strasser RS14 to a Beretta BRX-1. What are we seeing? Pros/cons? I am usually one to say you pay for what you get...usually more satisfied with the higher priced item. I am wondering what others are thinking?
