NOW I REMEMBER WHY I LOVE MY DILLON CARBIDE DIES

IMG_4166.jpeg

Ugh.

My second instance ever.

I suppose I’ve been lucky, over the tens of thousands that I’ve gone through thus far…

This is a Forster FLS Small Base Die.

I was uniforming some machinegun - fired garbage brass.

The Dillon dies have the wrench flats + stuck case extractor designed into the dies themselves, no extra parts or tools needed.

1727206588515.png

Now I’ve to wait for that RCBS 9340 Stuck Case Remover to get shipped…

The case rim is gone.

Any alternatives other than waiting at the moment?

EDIT: This happened because I left the case in the die in full compression - did something else for an hour or so - came back to where I left off, and voila! Seized die, wouldn't budge. The wax was probably squeezed out over that one hour.

If you've not already done so Check out Turan the Turkish ammunition manufacturer . It appears to be a state of the art facility and accuracy/velocity claims are unbelievably respectful . As we all know claiming and accomplishing are two different animals . However Pricing alone for product advertised is WORTH INVESTIGATING . Produced 5.56X45mm 193 & 855 ,also .223 Remington along with a variety of 9mm is current .

Need help picking my first 7mm PRC rifle... Browning, Ruger, Bergara, other?

I've got the long range itch and have really locked on to the 7mm PRC cartridge. I don't have any other long range rifles, aside from the AR308 some of you fine folks recently helped me troubleshoot. I somehow missed the 6.5 Creedmore rage as it was happening.

Based on my limited research, I've kind of narrowed it down to:
  • Browning Xbolt Speed
  • Ruger American Gen II (not yet released, coming Q1 2024)
  • Bergara Ridge B14

I'd like to stay below $1,000, which I know the Browning exceeds. But if it's really worth the added price, I'd consider it.

Are these good options for 7mm PRC?
My main goal is long range target shooting and the occassional hunt.
Should I be looking at other options?

Annealing Incident

Introductions: I'm fairly new to reloading, and have a limited budget.

My reloading procedure begins:

Deprime
Clean Primer Pockets
Anneal
Steel Wool
Soap and Water
Dry
Inspect

My annealing tools are a blowtorch and drill.

While annealing, I had a mishap that sounded like a firecracker went off. My first thought was a primer fired, but I had cleaned the primer pockets, so WTH? Most of this brass has been reloaded and fired 5 times, but a few shells were new ammo fired only for their brass (Lapua .223).

I stopped what I was doing, washed the brass, and then after it dried completed annealing.

Any idea of what happened? Dust? Moisture? Unfired Powder? Impure Brass?

Thanks.

Rifle Competition Events Looking for ruck match partner, Charlotte area

Shooter in the Charlotte, NC area looking for a long term long range and ruck match team match partner.

I have 10+ years experience shooting long range matches, PRS, Steel Safari, Team Safari, Team Challenge, Gaurdian etc. and a couple ruck matches at Coleman'sCreek.

I'm 56 years old, 5'-7", 155lb, I keep in shape and compete in Gun Run and Proving Grounds fitness/shooting matches, so I can ruck, and I have all the gear for Mammoth etc. I've shot many team matches but nearly all have been with a one time partner. Would like to develop a regular bromance with someone in the NC area so we develop some repoir and can be more competitive. I want to shoot more ruck matches and NRL hunter type team matches.

I'm not a top shooter in long range so not looking to be super competitive, I can't train every weekend, but I can train/practice once or twice a month at least, more if we are local enough to train weekdays.

Hit me up or spread the word please.

0.257 FMJ bullets for my old 1964 drilling? For home reloading

Hi,
I bought an old drilling with two shot gun barrels and one rifle barrel. Cal 16 shotgun barrels and 6,5x52r rifle barrel. I live in Norway and the only ammunition I can find is hollow tip 117 grain from Sellier & Bellot. I need FMJ and I am looking for bullets to reload my self. This weapon was ment to be a perfect combination weapon for bird hunting and if I saw some hare or foxes during the bird hunt. But the ready to shoot ammo I find in Norway will destroy the birds.
Can anyone help me? 0.257 bullets. But needs to not destroy the old drilling. This is a weapon I bought used to try out a drilling before buying an expensive one with modern calibers. Instead of carrying a shot gun in my hands and a rifle on my back pack.

SOLD MPA Hybrid Hunter Carbon Fiber 6.5 PRC

Putting another rifle up for sale that I had great intentions for that never came to fruition due to health issues.

Bought this new from an MPA dealer (Xtreme Guns and Ammo in Richmond Texas) and have shot it only at the range. Too much rifle for the deer I hunt here locally, this was supposed to be an elk hunting rig.

Action: Curtis SA Hybrid Mag Bolt face, Pic rail included (not sure on the MOA, likely a 20)
Barrel: Proof Carbon fiber 6.5 PRC with threaded end for a muzzle brake and one will be included (Area 419 or Heathen I can’t remember) Round count unknown but likely under 100. 1:7.5 Tw
Stock: MPA Hybrid Hunter Chassis, MPA Bag rider, Upgraded cheek riser with WeiBad pad, includes internal weights in the fore end and butt (see pics) and an extended bipod mount
Trigger: Triggertech Special
1 x 300 WSM / 6.5 PRC Magazine (I may have 2)

Bomus Barrel: I also have a 300WSM Proof Carbon 1:10 Twbarrel for this rifle if the buyer wants a switch barrel setup. I also have several boxes of Federal Gold 300 WSM hunting ammunition I can get additional details if the buyer is interested. This barrel will also fit a Terminus Apollo action. Round count is 123

Gun sells for $3500 on the MPA website at the moment, I have over $5K invested with the second barrel. I will sell the rifle with one barrel for $2800. Rifle with the switch barrel setup $3300.

USPS MO or we can discuss other options via PM. I’m pretty reasonable.

Price includes shipping to the lower 48 to the FFL of your choice (who must accept from an individual or else add$ 40).

Please feel free to PM me with questions if you have any.
**Update: I might be interested in trading for a GA Precision rifle if the caliber isn't a thunder stick, something that won't kick the daylights outta me.

I F'n despise Leofoto and other Chinese knockoff specialists

Disclaimer I do work for RRS, but this isn't an RRS ownership endorsed post..

I know going into this it could teach people about cheaper options out there, but it will also expand the knowledge of some of you guys who care about international companies, simply seeing you as dollar sign, while ripping off what they can because some folks just don't care.

So yeah I know the saying "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" but F them.

Look at these photos below, I just can't believe how people/whole companies can think this is okay. It isn't new, we have known about it for the past 6 years but can't do squat. Its as if they look up specific patents, for the purpose of copying them.

I know a lot of you have the tripods and I haven't (nor will I) freak out at you when you call up, the principle of it just irks the shit out of me. We have a lot of smart people working for us, working their tails off to come up with good ideas, me taking the knowledge I have gained from my service for new ideas, and listening to what you guys want, then it just gets ripped right off.

There are a lot of other companies that make bargain tripods, heads, gear, that will hold up for a season or 2. So if you can, please try and go to them. But if you don't care, who am I to do anything about it.

Just me griping and my .02 worth.

edit: I just realized they even took the division name we came up with and put it on their website! S.O.A.R, Sport Optics and Rifles

Mississippi Cop Arrested, Brought to Station in Own Cruiser After Shoplifting Sneakers in Uniform

A Mississippi police officer was arrested and brought to the station in her own police cruiser after getting caught shoplifting sneakers in uniform.

Robin Conner, 33, was on duty earlier this week when she went to a Dicks Sporting Goods in Columbus.

Conner tried on a pair of $140 sneakers, then attempted to leave the store while still wearing them.

Columbus Police Chief Joseph Daughtry told The Dispatch that he responded to the scene himself.

“An employee observed them and detained the officer and called 911,” Daughtry said. “911, knowing it was an officer, called the (shift supervisor) and they notified us. Myself, the assistant chief and the captain over patrol all responded.”

“We’re putting her in jail,” Daughtry said. “It’s embarrassing for the department, but we’re going to treat her like we would anybody else.”

CPD will be handling the case.

“I don’t see there’s any conflict of interest,” Daughtry said. “If it was a major case we would turn it over to another agency, but this is a misdemeanor and it’s pretty much cut and dried.”

The Blaze reports, “Conner was booked into the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center, charged with misdemeanor shoplifting for stealing goods worth less than $1,000, and given a $862 surety bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 4.”

Though she was originally placed on administrative leave, but the Columbus City Council voted unanimously on Thursday to fire her.
