SOLD PRS high end gear down sizing…… Impact 737, 28” CRB 25x47 Lapua Competition Contour by stuteville precision and 131 SMK

My priorities have changed, kid is playing travel baseball and wanting to be home more and travel less. Decided to significantly downsize my gear and reinvest into paying off my truck.

I was going to get after a prs year next year with 25x47. As I said I am over the traveling and being away.

This barrel has just been broken in. I put 100 134 eldm down the barrel practicing positional gently and started playing with seating depth tests and velocity tests with 131 SMK approximately 100 “ish”. I never finished load development but was seeing easy .5-.75 groups just checking velos with H4350.

This is a 28” CRB competition contour 25x47 Alpha reamer .180 freebore, muzzle is 5/8x24, cramped black and comes with a thread protector.

Save yourself a couple hundred bucks and get a top tier barrel without taxes etc looking for 550 shipped.

Precision Rifle Gear Budget Tripod review.

I wanted to do a quick review on a budget tripod option I’ve been playing with. I picked up this Fanue ST65 tripod for around $250 on Amazon. Of course it’s made in China. Then again so is the device you’re likely reading this on. Along with half the items in your home. This company at least, seems to actually care about the products they are making and doing it with an eye towards the use case and with the end user in mind unlike many of the cheaper options. We are seeing this more and more from some of the manufacturers out of China. There are a few other versions of this one available as well.
This model weighs about 5lbs, has 31.75mm carbon main tubes and will handle 44lbs. The arca head is sturdy. It doesn’t blink at my 20lb rifle. I did add a touch of grease to the arca screw lock as it was dry. Throw lever on the ball is large and easy to manipulate when the rifle is mounted. Build quality seems extremely good for the price and so far has done everything I’ve asked of it. Granted I don’t shoot PRS on a regular basis and, while I can afford it, I can’t justify dumping a small fortune into a RRS or similar tripod. Most “armchair operators” like me will have a hard time justifying $1000 for a tripod. I’ve messed around with friends high end gear and this bargain of a tool gets most of the job done at a fraction of the price. Would I take it “to war”? Not likely. Will it last as long as a RRS? Not likely. But again, it’s a matter of use case. The only battle this will ever see is getting knocked around at my shooting club or the occasional local match. I believe in buy once, cry once. But even that has its limits for those of us with mortgages and kids in school. Sometimes you just need a piece of gear that gets the job done at a decent price.
A month in and so far I can’t find a fault. I’m sure if it has one it will turn out to be the twist lock mechanisms on the leg extensions. I’d assume at this price they’ll be plastic. But so far they lock positively and do not slip. The head is well machined. The anodizing is well done. And the locking lever for the ball head is simple and strong. So far. Time will tell how it holds up as a shooting platform but for now it’s sturdy, wobble free, and locks up tight as a drum. As an optics platform it feels like a fantastic option. If it craps the bed, I’ll follow up.

JP SCI-20 6 ARC 18” build

Finally got all the parts in on this build and thought I’d share the build and process with you all.

Backstory:
Father-in-law was looking for a deer gun/yote gun in NW Minnesota, and asked me to build a top tier lightweight gasser. We both have JP parts in other ARs and love them, and he’s wanted a JP rifle for awhile. He decided he wanted 6 ARC, and chose 18” to remain wieldy while suppressed yet retain enough velocity for long range. Chose a VX-6HD 2-12 for the optic- clear glass and very lightweight. Tried my best to convert him to a FFP tree reticle to take full advantage of the 6 ARC ballistics but no luck, he likes his SFP duplex for deer. Added his SilencerCo Omega to top off the build.

Parts:
Receiver set is the JP SCI-20 side charge with a Proof 18” 6 ARC carbon barrel. Paired with a JP LMOS BCG, JP agb, Geissele SSA-E trigger, PRS Lite stock, and Leupold VX-6HD.

Experience:
Ordered most parts from JP, 4-6 week lead time and they had it shipped by week 5. Very helpful guys as well. Hardest part to get was the barrel, found a lgs with one thanks to help from a Hide member.

Assembly:
Putting it all together was fairly straightforward aside from the barrel install, which is a bit more in-depth and requires a torch to heat the receiver before the barrel will seat. Great video on YouTube covering this in depth. Very pleased with the semi-monolithic upper from JP. Combined with the heat fit barrel extension it really locks up like one solid piece. Additionally, installation of the MK3 handguard is greatly simplified with the SCI-20 upper, reducing the installation and set time of the barrel nut otherwise required.

Rainy day today, but will try to get out tomorrow and see how she shoots!

*Update*
She shoots. Really really well. 6 holes in a 1” bullseye at 100 yards

Accessories MRAD 33XC barrel

Selling my Barrett MRAD 33XC barrel that I used for the last 3 months of the ELR season. Only reason I’m selling, is because I’m getting a longer barrel spun up and will no longer need this one. This one has 307 rounds through it, 75% of which were loaded with H1000 (the others were N565 and H50) so the throat is still in good shape. All gunsmithing done by Southern Precision Rifles/Bugholes.

Specs are:

-29” 9T Bartlein heavy taper (0.925” at muzzle) threaded 3/4 at the muzzle.
-Barrett type A barrel makers kit (can be reused for other barrels)
-APA gen 3 fat bastard brake
-Includes 73 275gr Cutting Edge single feed Lazer bullets

Asking $1450 shipped ($1350 without the brake)
Would consider trades ONLY FOR,
-AMP annealer
-Spotting scope
-Vortex Fury HD AB binos
