For matches, I know a lot of people use the mark 5hd’s, but how about the mark4hd’s? I’m looking at the mark4 hd 6-24 (pr2-mil), and the Bushnell dmr3 3.5-21 (g4p). Looking at both as lightly used scopes currently available for under retail in my area.

I’ve ruled out the xtr3. Used a gen2 razor for awhile, but its reticle was just a bit too fine for me on the lower 10-14x powers. I also used a sig tango 6 4-24 for a while and although most didn’t like it I loved its glass, just hated the mis-alignments of the #’s on the turrets, and they were spongy.

I also found an Xrs3 for a great deal but I’m concerned about the writings I’ve found saying it’s horrible in mirage and harder to focus(?). As well as the reticle not being very usable in the 10-14x range since it’s got such a high power of 36x

What appears to be a very light firing pin strike when closing the bolt on 25 CM AR10. Any advice?

I had my March on the shelf for a few months. Mounted it on a rifle tonight and was adjusting the magnification ring. There’s a bit of friction around 2.5X. Loosened the back ring completely, and the friction is still there. Anyone else have this?

This has been on my bench for a while and I no longer have a use for it. Mounted in Vortex pro 1.54" rings.

Ran this on a .223 for a little while before replacing with a NF. Held zero fine.

Hi, I’ve searched the previous post on here and seems like the Beever156 M40 stock is a good candidate for a M40 build. I was wondering for those that had/have it; and tips or tricks as to modifying it? I know the foreend needs to be reshaped but how about fitment? Is it a direct bolt on? I would like to bed this myself but I don’t have any bedding/stock experience so I may source it out or leave it as is.

So my experience is pretty much zero when it comes to gunsmith. This is actually my first rifle I plan to build as all my previous experience has been with ARs which is for the most part just bolt on.

I have already read the topics of the M40 builds here and it’s been really helpful if not more confusing for me. I have a Remington 700P in .308 as my build platform. I dunno if this is a wise choice or not but since I rarely shoot it, I figure I can clone it into something I probably will ( I would like to use my M40 clone in the CMP vintage sniper matches which just got approved to allow the M40/M70//XM21. It will not be a true replica/ clone as I don’t plan to clip slot it, need to cut it down to 24”, etc but good enough where I can use it for matches.

Sorry for all the rambling from a newbie but any tips/ tricks/ advice given would be great whether it be positive or negative. Thanks again!
