Hello, everyone. I'm working on a 1984 Winchester Model 70 and the safety lever is stuck in the Fire position while the bolt is in the rifle. It's not crud or gunk. It is a mechanical stoppage. In the Fire position, the trigger cocks and fires. When I remove the bolt from the action and manually cock the cocking piece, the safety lever works just fine. I've taken the bolt apart and pulled out everything. I have examined the safety cam lobe and the cutout on the firing pin and have found no burrs. The part of the sear that makes contact with the cocking piece appears to be fine as well.
Backstory: This rifle came to me in parts so I have no idea if it worked before it was brought to me. The owner doesn't know if it worked prior to bringing it to me either. After bluing I have reassembled everything including the trigger which I set to four pounds. This is a real head-scratcher so any insight would be very welcome. If pictures would help, I'm happy to provide them. Thanks.

Question regarding this can.

I'm wishing I had bought a direct thread. I emailed Huxwrx about taking my QD break and thread lock this directly to the can, effectively turning it into a direct thread. Why would I want to do this? QD mounts are spendy and add up when I spread it out over all of my rifles. Also, it's can be a bear to remove from the course threads until it's really cooled off. Here is their response:

"The Flow suppressors are going to be QD only. The only rifle suppressor we offer right now that has direct thread capabilities is the Ventum series.

We would advise against thread locking the muzzle device to the suppressor as it can cause issues with suppressor alignment, functionality, and will disturb the cleaning and maintenance cycle of the suppressor.

You would be best to get a muzzle device for each rifle in the proper caliber and thread pitch that will allow you to use the QD system and move easily between rifles."

I'm not sure I agree with this logic. 1. The break doesn't need to be timed in a can, correct? And there are better breaks if I only want to run one 2. I'm just changing the order of which this goes on to the barrel, meaning, I'm screwing to the barrel instead of the QD mount. How does this affect alignment/functionality if the barrel thread or muzzle QD threads are gospel?

The only thing I can think of is maybe when it comes time to cleaning it it might be a PITA, which doesn't bother me. Or, the root of the response is to sell more QD attachments? What am I missing here?
