Yesterday I had the opportunity to chrono the same ammo over 3 different chronos at the same time. They were a Garmin, a LabRadar and an old Shooting Chrony optical. The Chrony was set 5' from the muzzle while the other 2 were on the bench.

The rifle was a 22LR shooting a known lot of good ammo. The LabRadar and the Chrony recorded virtually the same FPS, only differing by 2 FPS. The Garmin was very different in this regard recording 50 FPS lower. velocity. The ES was was basically the same for all the units, varying only 1 FPS, 12 to 11 FPS.

Any idea as to what is going on with the discrepancy with the reading on the Garmin?

Ive narrowed down my next scope purchase to be a Bushnell Matchpro 6-24x50 or the Arken EPL-4 6-24x50. This will be going on a 300wsm alpine rifle for hunting 200-800m.

Before i pull the pin on either scope has anyone had any experience with both and can sway me either way? From the videos ive seen the Arken even with ED glass dosent have as good CA control compared to the Bushnell.

Are there any other scopes i should be looking at in the $300-$400 range? Not fussed on FFP or SFP

Has anybody tried to run 6ARC through their 5.56 can? I’ve noticed the end cap and baffle diameter is large enough for the bullet to freely pass through, and the 6ARC fires with less pressure then the 5.56. So in theory, I feel like it is safe to run it in just to scared to be the first one to try, but I have a a feeling someone in here has done it at some point

Which do you all prefer to wear afield in the warmer months, snake-proof boots or snake-proof gaiters? I have used rubber snake-proof boots that are great in the spring when it's rainy because they double as mud boots. In the summer and fall I prefer lighter boots, but venomous snakes are still somewhat of a concern when traversing thickets and fairly thick undergrowth. I think snake-proof gaiters are ok, but it can get hot beneath them as the day warms up. I'd like to to try some leather or leather/cordura type of snake proof boots, but I don't want any with heavy insulation. I'm curious as to which type of venomous snake protection some of you all use. Which boots or combination do you prefer?

Good afternoon everyone. I'm reaching out with a question. What is your favorite optic under $1,200? I'm moving off of a Nikon 3x9 BDC SFP hunter scope. My max yardage at my old range was 200 yards. I have the ability to go up to 1,000 yards since I moved. What do you guys recommend? I primarily shoot my Ruger GSR in .223/5.56. I've moved up to a Savage Axis in .308 Win. I got it for under $300. I wanted to save most of my budget towards a nice scope. I've never had what I would call, "amazing" optics. So what would recommend? I'm used to SFP, MOA. However I don't mid changing things up.

Was at the DMV friday, Elkhorn WI. took my number and went and sat down. I sat next to a table in back (6ft away) where an elderly lady was asking people if they are registered to vote and then with a computer there helping them register. A guy walks up, maybe in his 60s, says he moved to a different town, and now moved back to Whitewater so he needs to register to vote. He started telling the lady that he did not vote in the 2020 election and when he went online and looked himself up, it said the last time he voted was 2020 and voted absentee (by mail) , man was confused and irritated. Said he had to look up what "absentee" meant. The lady set him up on the computer to register.... when he logged in.. he said "look... right there it says last time I voted was 2020 by absentee". He also said his wife did not vote in 2020 and it also said the last time she voted was 2020 absentee. He was asking the elderly woman what can be done about it and who he voted for as the website will not tell you who you voted for. He explained to her he told a colleague at work and the person laughed and said he was full of it. The colleague also did not vote in 2020 and the man told him to look it up.... The website said the last time the colleague voted was 2020 also by absentee, this guy lives near Milwaukee. The man was kinda mad and the elderly woman had no answers, she told him to tell people running it... neither knew who to contact... and i'm guessing the game of tag that would be trying to find someone to tell would be a joke.

Mine seems legit.
