Bushing die sizing problems

Hey there everyone

I'm having issue with my reloading process.
..something doesn't seem right...

For contex
6.5 creedmoor
140 grain
Sb brass that I neck turned to .014

Redding dies with .289 bushing

The problem is after going through reloading process but before charging and seating I've measured the outside neck diameter and the cases are consistently at .291....why is it not compressing to .289...I get some spring of .001 is expected...but I'm not sure why it is jumping out thay far.

.264 plus .028 of neck thickness...equals .292.....with a .289 bushing it's .003 neck tension minus .001 for spring back to give me my goal of .002 neck tension

Thoughts?

Thanks for the advice

Suppressors Next 30 Cal Suppressor?

Hi All,
I'm looking for a second rifle suppressor, preferably 30 cal for both 556 and up to 308 use, with a plan to use for PRS and field matches, and wanted to get the braintrust's recommendations:

My priorities are:
1. Least effect upon accuracy
2. Low back pressure for use on my 556 ar-15
3. Suppression
4. Decreased recoil
5. Size/weight
6. Modular muzzle connection (1.375”-24tpi system)

I currently have a rugged radiant 7.62 and I have a number of their muzzle devices compatible with their proprietary dual taper lock. I often run it in its short configuration with a "muzzle brake front cap" from Liberty Suppressors which just happens to be cross-compatible. Unfortunately, rugged suppressors tend to underperform on the PewScience ratings.

My top considerations in order are:
1. Nomad 30 Ti with E-Brake end cap
2. KGM 30 with APEC system open
3. Liberty Anthem S
4. Rugged Alaska 360 with Liberty muzzle brake front cap
5. AB Suppressor Raptor 8 baffle with 3" reflex
6. Helios QD with vented end cap

+2.4 oz for all suppressor weights for the Rugged Universal Mount adapter.

I excluded TBAC cans and the Area 419 because although they have a great pedigree, they tend to have a $400-700 premium over the competition.

Thanks for your input!

Die Leaving Scratches In Brass - Once Fired

I loaded up 200 rounds of 6.5CM and finally just got through most of it. I’m starting the process of starting the next batch after tumbling and annealing and I noticed that the die appears to be leaving scratches on the brass toward the case head end.

Most of the scratches are superficial but I can feel a slight ridge with my nail at a couple of places. Is this ok or do I need to do something about it? The die has been sitting in its box since I finished the first batch. I disassembled and wiped it out but I’m still seeing the same thing.

Extremely light but hyper accurate 22lr rifle

I have moved away from most all precision centerfire and rimfire rifle stuff lately. I sold everything but my last V-22 to fund a house build and completely get out of debt. My goal in my new life is going to be more hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities. I will be building an accurate but light centerfire to bang steel and hunt with once the funds are available, I already know what I want there (well it’s down to 2-3 options). However I am struggling to come up with a rimfire to match it.

So I thought it may be an interesting conversation with the rimfire crowd here on the Hide. As of right now the slate is completely clean and I am open to anything. Some criteria I would like are:
-magazine fed
-scoped
-accurate (something capable of 1/2 MOA @ 50 yards / 1-1.25 MOA @ 100 yards is ideal, but it must me sub MOA at 50 which should not be a problem)
-prefer a 2 stage trigger but that isn’t a deal breaker, it just has to be very clean and crisp
-threaded for a suppressor
-not crazy expensive

I am open to both bolt action which I prefer or semi auto. I have been leaning to building a 10/22. I have built a few that were surprisingly accurate. Anyway, let’s hear it guys…

Kelby Atlas Tactical Issue - Excessive Cock On Close

I purchased a Kelby Atlas Tactical SA barreled action from Preferred Barrel Blanks with their CF wrapped heavy palma barrel, 24” 6.5 PRC. This Atlas has trigger pins instead of a hanger. Installed a Huber Concepts 2 stage trigger, and am experiencing excessive cock on close, I think. I called Kelbly and they told me it’s the trigger that’s the problem and to contact Huber. Huber had me send the trigger back in and called me and told me that it measures perfectly in spec. I measured total pin fall and cock on close. My measurements are 0.208 fall from shroud to pin in the fired position, plus 0.088 protrusion from shroud to pin in the cocked position. I also measured the protrusion with bolt open just engaging the lug raceway, and got 0.055, therefore from open to closed in getting 0.033” cock on close, and total pin fall is 0.296, Kelby said the max they want to see is 0.275 of pin fall, or could have issues with pierced primers on hot loads. Huber says if he takes 0.021 off his trigger it will give me 0.012 cock on close which he said is what he likes, but it will make his trigger fall out of normal Remington trigger spec. He said he would dress it but that Kelbly probably needs to change or dress their cocking piece. Other part of this puzzle is Preferred stated the bolt was not matched to the action. I don’t know much about trigger timing but I know my measurements are accurate. What are my options here? What should pin fall be max and min? What should target be for cock on close? Should I have trigger adjusted all the way or should I get Kelly to time it? Is this something I can do myself? I run a machine shop so I potentially can do what’s needed I just don’t know what’s needed.

Thanks

Accuracy International - Alternative Barrel Clamp Torque Specs?

Was talking to a friend who has many more years experience than I with the Accuracy International AT308, and he and his department run Hornady TAP ELD Precision 168gr exclusively as a SWAT Sniper. While I've had a hard time getting this ammo to group tightly despite its superior ballistics on paper, he and his guys are getting notably better accuracy and precision with it, from the Lothar-Walther 1:12 20/24 inch barrel. The difference is, I'm torqued to 49 inch/lbs, while he and his guys are at 55 inch lbs, so 6 in/lbs over factory spec.

Is this common? Have folks here played with different torque specs for the barrel clamp screw? And, what grease if any are you guys putting on your barrel threads before screwing and clamping it in?
