I realize SVD’s are fairly rare in the US, but they’re definitely part of the Vintage Sniper Rifles of the world.....and my favorite!
I have found that a Chinese NDM-86 has surprisingly decent accuracy. When I bought it, I was expecting 2-3 MOA at best. PPU match ammunition has consistently produced 1 MOA groups out to 600yds.
The rifle is definitely not on the same level as a precision built bolt gun, but it definitely will hold accuracy alongside my SR-25.
Has anyone else here had comparable results with an SVD?

Action receiver/barrel thread length

Is there a reason why some actions use a thread length of say 1.5” long for the receiver/barrel thread length and another action using only 0.68”?
Context is this would be for a 33XC or 300Norma sized cartridge.
Is there any positives or negatives to the longer or shorter thread length. Attached is a picture of what I’m referring to if I’m not being specific enough.

Mounted on my Sig Cross in 6.5 for less than 100 rounds. Looking to go with something lighter and the reticle is kind of busy to my eye for hunting.

Up for sale is my cryptic coatings black mystic large frame BCG. Selling my large frame receiver set so no longer need this. This is the full bcg from cryptic, everything but the firing pin is covered in their mystic black coating. These things are slicker than snot. This scope comes with a special elevation turret for .308 168g match ammo. The original Leupold turret is also included. Got these intending to swap my 6.5 over to 8.6 but all I did was mock it up and then put on a muzzle brake. Pretty easy swap if you want to take any Fix and change it over. $900 new for this stuff.
