Accessories Marlin 1895 M.I. Handguard

Selling my Midwest industries rail and chisel machining stock for a Marlin 1895. Was on my Ruger made Trapper.

Don’t have the front sight. It didn’t fit the trapper model without serious filing to even get it to fit. Ended up just pitching it. Replacements can be bought from Midwest industries.

Rail: $225 ($340 new)
Stock: $375 with Hoptic longbow ($445 new)

Advice for hunting scope: Nightforce SHV 3-10 or older Swarovski 1.5-6?

I recently bought a Tikka T3x Lite .308 stainless rifle that I'm having the barrel cut back to 18". I'm in the process of piecing together the various parts to make this a really nice and handy "general purpose" rifle.

I'm currently looking at several scopes with the most interesting candidates being a Nightforce SHV 3-10x42. Advantages here are that it is a newer design, illuminated reticle, but probably more magnification than I need. I've read good things about the SHV models and while I'm normally a NXS guy, I think this could be a candidate.

Next up is a Swarovski 1.5-6x42 Habicht. I really like the magnification range for this one and if the optical quality and light gathering ability on this is anything like my old West German S&B fixed 4x scope, then I'm leaning this way. Probably late '90's vintage

Also entertaining some older Leupold VX-R scopes with the Fire Dot reticle. There's a couple of used 1.25-4 and 3x9 for fair prices out there.

All have 30mm tubes. The Luepy's will cost me about $600, the Nightforce about $650 and the Swarovski about $700...all used in excellent condition.

Which way would you go?

Accessories Foundation Centurion Weight Kit

I have a set of brass weights for the Foundation Centurion stock. There are 22 brass weights that will add 1 lb 12 oz to the stock. I have drilled and tapped these at #6-32 to help with removal. I am not sure how people are securing these in their stocks. I cut parts of orings and shoved them in between 2 sides of the weight and the honeycomb. They are pretty snug in two of my Centurion stocks.

$120 - Full weight kit (22 weights) drilled and tapped

PayPal friends and family is preferred or add the percentage to cover the fees.

If there is enough interest I might make more weight kits. I would also be interested in the dimensions of the honeycombs in the other Foundation stocks. Added pictures of the weights in my Centurion. It also looks like these will fit an MG2 as well.

Did SAC sent out the wrong shoulder bushing?

Had nothing but good experience with SAC and recommend them to my father in law.

He ordered a sizing die with a .284 bushing, but seemed to have received a stamped .285, but engraved .284 which measures out as .285

Obviously the wrong size.

He emailed SAC with pictures and got this response. What do you guys think.

"The lasering on the side of the bushing is correct. The engraving is placed to help us sort the thousands of bushings post nitride. We measure these bushings 4X before they are lasers and the size on the lasering is the size. Don't fret unfortunately we get this alot"

SOLD WTS: MPA BA Comp Chassis w/Folder and Internal Weights

I have a used MPA BA Comp chassis for a Rem 700 SA. It has the folder and the internal front weight kit and the weighted rear bag rider. The small factory set screws for the adjustable LOP and cheek riser have been replaced with larger thumb screws for reliability and ease of adjustment. Includes 2 rnd holder and action bolts.

Note: the very front ridge of the pic rail on the front bipod spigot has been ground flat so that a barrel tuner wouldn’t make contact. See pictures. Does not affect Arca bipod mount.

$700 shipped via PP or Venmo F&F

For sale is a Leupold Mark 8 3.5-25, illuminated H58 reticle and the Leupold 35mm mount. There is a small cosmetic mark on the right side of the objective that I can touch up if wanted. Athlon Cronus 20-60x86

Athlon makes a wide range of spotters but doesn't have as storied name recognition as other bigger brands. The Cronus is Athlon’s top tier product line. Their Gen2 UHD 20-60x86mm spotting scope is not in the same class as a Kowa or Swarski, it still does not disappoint.

The Cronos comes with a set of rubber lens caps. The front has a loop for a lanyard but no lanyard was included. The body is rubberized and armored for durability and grip. The body comes with an ARCA-Swiss compatible tripod ring which rotates 180º with indexing for an easy return to 0º. The eyepiece has a large diameter lens for a wide eyebox and a built in retracting eye cup.

The Cronos sports UHD glass which is Athlon’s term for their flavor of Extra Low Dispersion glass. While my testing camera does show some slight chromatic aberration at 60x, this is not noticeable with the naked eye. The image I was seeing was clean, accurate, and sharp from center to outer edge.

The only disappointing aspect of this scope isn’t the scope but its accessories. The padded sleeve style case is designed to allow you to keep the scope inside the soft case while mounting and using the scope on a tripod. While a laudable attempt, the materials and construction feel a bit cheap compared to the the scope. And the lens caps should have come with optional lanyards to keep them retained onto the scope. These issues are superficial and don’t detract from the actual performance of the Cronos.

Athlon sent me their new dual focus model with a fine focus knob sitting on top of the fast focus. This model is not yet released but their standard model with a large focus ring around the tube is widely available.
