Got a bit bored, so I drew up & printed a fiber optic upgrade for my Send-its. Am running NF 7-35 ATACRs mounted on Spurhs where the ocular rotates with the magnification.

Any thoughts for improvements? They work great on both my RM and CF rigs. (Please ignore the dust on my lense... Hand't cleaned it yet after the last match.)

I’m considering getting a KRG Bravo for a Howa 1500 barreled action, but have a question.

It looks like the Bravo is in two halves and that the trigger guard is connected to the front half and the action screw goes though that and the rear half is just held on by one screw, is that correct?

If so, could that be utilized as a removable butt stock in leu of a side folder? I’m thinking it could be stored detached and then simply screwed back on at the range with a pocket torque wrench. Am I off base?

How sturdy is it if it’s only held together with one screw?

Vortex Viper PST Gen II 5-25x56 with EBR-7C MOA reticle. Also included is Flat Line Ops Recon Level and Hawkins long range hybrid rings which are 25 MOA bias. They are the larger bolt size 8-40 for Defiance and custom actions but are for REM 700 SA spacing. Rings are the high version which puts the objective at the right height above the barrel. I chose to switch the rear bubble level cap out with the Hawkins replacement one, but it is also included if you prefer it. Everything is in great condition showing little to no signs of wear. Pretty much only taken to the range in a case. $800 TYD.

Knowing what I know, and seeing plenty of the typical Military safety training videos this wasn't a painless way to go out.

I'm working on testing methods and products and gathering data on bullet seating. I'll be posting some comprehensive data once I get to an appropriate point of collection, but I just got some interesting information that I though was worth sharing.

I bought an AMP Press a number of months ago and have been testing different neck lubes, different processes, annealing vs. not, etc. Tomorrow I'm heading out to BLM land to do some ~2k yard ELR with my 300, and some closer in stuff with my 6 BRA, which means tonight I'm doing a bunch of loading. For my 300, I tried two slightly different processes:

Process 1:
- Anneal
- Size
- Lube necks with moly (topic for another post, but I've found moly to be the best neck lube on annealed brass)
- Mandrel
- Trim
- Primer, charge, seat

Process 2:
- Anneal
- Size
- Lube necks with moly
- Mandrel
- Trim
- Lube a second time
- Primer, charge, seat

Below are the graphs from the AMP Press showing the difference. I did 16 on process 1 and 46 on process 2.

Process 1: Single neck lube before trim, primer, charge, etc.


Process 2: Neck lube before trim, then second neck lube before primer, charge, etc.

Notes:

- On process 1, some of the plots spike at the end because I needed to re-zero the press height
- You can see that the extra lube step on process 2 pretty dramatically brought in spread. It's about a 30lb spread on process 1 vs. a 16lb spread on process 2.
- I'll post the muzzle velocity results after I get back tomorrow.
- I'm expecting somewhat of an SD improvement from the set of process 1 vs process 2, as I've already documented a correlation between seating force SDs and muzzle velocity SDs in my Mandrel Musings thread.
- For my 6 BRA, the two different plots I've got show a stark difference - includes annealing vs. not for one firing. But there is also one other factor that plays a significant role that was unexpected. More on that later.

I usually just run 40-45gr 1680, or mid 30s of H110 under various 250gr bullets, or a couple grains more under 230gr FMJs for practice and plinking rounds in my thumper.

Sitting here watching the Republican convention and 45-47 kept popping up…and got the gears turning. Thinking about doing a 47gr load under a 230, and calling it The Trump, LoL. I think pressures will get too close to max with 47gr of any of the powders I normally use under anything bigger.

Anyone else have a pet load for 450BM that uses 47gr powder?

I’m building a 300 blackout ar-15. Trying to decide the best twist rate for accuracy. It needs to be 16” long and will be shooting mostly if not all heavy subsonic rounds in the 190-200’s range?

Are there in indications in industry or rumors on when Vortex or a competitor will release a slimmer, faster, & lighter version? I'm getting ready to pick one up and I have a strong feeling that I'm going to get lab radar'd again at shot show 2025. The impact 4000 feels more like the proof of concept than the final product.

I dwelled upon the design of the MPA trigger finger-bump.

I then penned the thread at the top of this post; Tyler said he just needed somebody to send in a chassis for a 3D scan.

$100 bux later, I UPS'd the chassis in to MKM last April, and Tyler and his team went to work. They are busy, so they just barely got it done for my July prairie dog shoot, but Fedex delivers to the middle of nowhere so all was good.

About me
I shoot prairie dogs and other smaller ground squirrels/“gophers” (yeah, PDs are ground squirrels too. Weird, huh? And our “gophers” are actually Richardson's ground squirrels).

I have attempted, and failed, to bag some crows and gray tree squirrels during their respective seasons. I am considering branching out to coyotes. I am not a PRS shooter, but like to optimize my setups waaaaay too much. I bench 110lbs, have one bow kill, and work with plaster of Paris.

QUICK NOTES, GRIP

• It's a prototype grip, not finished
• It's made of some stuff that is super-tough and different than regular 3D printed material
• The grip adds material on the front, which brings your middle, ring, & pinkie fingers further forward. This helps relax and position your hand to squeeze the trigger at 90º
• The grip I got was smaller on the left and had a nice palm swell for the right and feels substantial
• The "index finger bump" is optional* but REALLY helps that 90º squeeze, at least for this fool
• It allows the thumb to fall way further forward than stock. The stock location always felt like I was thumbing a ride with Cheech and Chong.
• I sanded down a part of the finger bump for comfort
• It has a slight texture to it (me like)
• The fit on the chassis is pretty good, not perfect. It’s a prototype.
• LOTS OF DETAILS ARE UNDETERMINED for the final production version. Things like texture, etc. But I don't think they'll all have a thumb shelf on both sides.

QUICK NOTES, MAGWELL

• It's a prototype too, I believe**
• Made of more regular 3D printed-type of material vs the Adamantium-like wonder polymer of the grip
• Works well and looks cool, serves as a barricade stop (but I have no barricades ha)
• Turns my W3 into a Vision chassis lookalike, sorta. The W3 should’ve been designed like this from the get-go.

Everything pretty much rocks. Especially after I sanded the bottom of the the index finger bump. Magwell helps guide mags and looks cool. Tyler of MKM does some impeccable work. I told him it has really transformed the chassis for me. Super comfy. So much so that I need to get a thumb rest for my AIAX as now that sort of feels like ass lol. Goddamnit I just had to work in a mention of my AI; I am a sad sad man.

* INDEX FINGER BUMP: The way it's designed is that It's supposed to bolt on, but MKM forgot the bolts, so I bought some epoxy and glued it on there. It's a prototype, remember, and I'm gonna send it back for scanning.

** MAGWELL: MKM forgot the bolts on this one too lol, but they are too awesome for me to care. I used some old KRG bolts I had laying around. It seems to be designed to use smaller bolts that would sit flush.
