Looking to do some hog hunting in for a day May/June at the Clinton House Plantation in SC. I am trying to decide which rifle to take or should I take both. I am planning to take an AR (mk12 clone 1:8 twist) to hunt with. Property allows 223/556. I'm reading hit or miss on the 556. Should I leave the AR and take a 3006, take both ect? I am assuming shots would be within 300 yards but need to call the outfitters to confirm.

If I go 556:
65 grain Sierra Game Kings

70 grain Hornady CX
or
Barnes TSX triple Shock 70 grains

Take the 3006
150 grain Hornady SST
or
165 Grain SBT Game Kings

Tl;dr: Looking for an alternative go fast reticle/scope to the Athlon 2-12

I was settled on an Athlon helo 2-12 for a dmr scope for gun runs, dmr and a few PRs matches but all the mil versions are out of stock everywhere with estimated replacement of Oct 25.

It looks like a gen 3 razor 1-10 has a similar reticle but at 3x the price and I’m worried about FOV during PRS. There is a Leupy mk 4hd 2-10 in the classifieds with a good price but tmr reticle.

NF nx8 line can be had reasonable, but again lacking that useful reticle at low magnification.

Any thoughts at around $1500 or less?

My MCX got a few changes after I got the updated carriage assembly.
Swapped out the skeletonized fix length folder for the kinder gentler collapsible.

I have a mild cam in an Olds 474 cubic inch motor. 495 ft lbs and 425 HP.

It sounds like a big block should. I am old school and just can't drag myself to put fuel injection on it. Would it help? Most definitely but I like carbs.

Hey guys , I moved a few years ago (to the humid south) and finally am getting around to building a new reloading/ work bench.

I have gotten a butcher block to be the top of my bench, but I'm not sure what I should finish or seal it with ? The block is unfinished so I will sand it and want to seal it with something that will withstand the humid climate.

Any ideas on what works best ?

I'm left-handed and getting fairly serious about precision rimfire (PRS, NRL22). I have shot right-handed bolt guns my entire life. I currently run a heavy barreled B14R, and I feel that it hasn't held me back up to this point. Right now, I come off of the rifle with my support hand to run the bolt.

Looking for the opinions of people who have done this way longer than I have and who can steer me in the right direction!
