Firearms FIREARMS FOR SALE - ***UPDATED 03.31.2025***

Good morning, Members!

Below is an updated list of the remaining firearms I have for sale as of 03.31.2025.

I wasn't getting much traction with the HK and Barrett builds so I stripped them down and decided to post the rifles and the optics, accessories etc separately on two other lists I posted today. I've lowered the prices on most all of the firearms.

I've added a couple of firearms to the list that weren't on the previous list.

Please reach out to me for photos and further information regarding any of the items.

No love for the 300 WSM?

Looking at building my first long action cartridge for ELR specifically, and have it pretty much narrowed down to 300 WSM and 300 Norma.

I'm leaning toward the WSM based on the facts that:
  • There's Lapua Brass for $1 cheaper than Norma
  • 65 gr of powder vs Norma's 80ish
  • Abundance of excellent load data from the BR crowd, along with a lot of records having been set at 1k with them
  • I can load lighter 200s with my current stock of h4350 if I want
  • I can be a hipster and do something less mainstream, I guess?
  • I can shoot 220 Hybrids with the same BC as a 230 Hybrid, or if I want more BC, I can step down to the 2800 FPS node, and shoot a 230 A-Tip
As far as I can tell the biggest arguments against the WSM is that it's not any good as a short action calibur, and isn't using the potential of the long action if you go that way, but... Does it actually lose anything to a 300 WM or PRC shooting 230s?

1739302487465.png

I understand that you can push a 245 hybrid from a PRC and Win Mag, but at that point, why bother with either when you can do it more comfortably from a 300 Norma?

Is anyone on snipershide shooting a WSM? By the looks of it, it's the red headed step child of the ELR possible cartridges.

Velocity differences between 6.5cm brass brands

I am mot an expert reloader by any meansI load a lot of 6.5cm and have accumulated a number of type of brass. I have noticed using different brass results in big changes in muzzle velocity.

For example my Hornady large primer brass loaded with 41.8gr H4350 147gr ELD-M and 210M primer averages 2572fps with an SD of 14 on the first loading.

Using Federal large primer brass with 41.5gr (0.3gr less) powder and 210M primers is considerably faster at 2702fps, SD 11 although that was on the second loading.

The Federal brass is about 20gr heavier. Neither are annealed. Is the slightly reduced case capacity the reason for the increased speed?

I have noticed that my brass from slowest to fastest is:

Hornady large primer
Lapua small primer
Federal small primer
Federal large primer

Changing brass brands causes the biggest velocity shift I have noticed, much more than different primers or even a small changes in charge weight. I would expect some change but that seems like a lot.

Is this normal? Are the higher speeds with some brands just a free velocity increase? Does anyone else track this or am I just an idiot for having so many types of brass or possibly doing something else wrong? The Hornady handloads sat for the better part of a year.

Berger 105 Hybrid Target VS Hornady 105 Aeromatch: PART 1 - Dimensional Consistency

After being so wildly impressed with the 105 Berger Hybrids in my 6 Dasher last competition season, and disappointed in the Hornady options I had tried, I was excited to see the Aeromatch line announced recently. This gives us a great opportunity to see if Berger has something special in their manufacturing consistency, or if it is their bullet shape/design that gives them their world renowned match performance.

I picked up a box of 500 105 grain Aeromatch from Sports South, lot number: 2241647 to compare to the lot of 105 Berger Hybrids I shot all of last season, lot number 3264.

In Part 1 I will be sharing my measurement results for the two different bullets. I did a sample size of 50 for each. For some added context I have been a machinist/machine shop owner for 8 years so I have a decent "feel" with metrology tools for when things feel right and best practices for consistent measurements. The weights were measured on a calibrated FX-120i digital balance with .02 grain resolution, the length and base to ogive measurements were done with a Mitutoyo 500-196-20 0-6" caliper with .0005" resolution, and diameter was measured with a Mitutoyo 293-185-30 0-1" Quantumike with .00005" resolution. I realize that the resolution would ideally be higher when measuring variances this small, but I do not yet have a keyence laser comparator so until then, this will have to do. Take the results with a grain of salt, on target is where it really matters.

In part 2 I will share groups with each bullet from this seasons virgin 6 Dasher barrel. I will be testing bullet jump at -.010", -.030", -.060", -.090", -.120". With 30 shot groups at each seating depth and each bullet, for a total of 300 rounds between both bullets and all tests.

I have added some graphs to display the data below, but in summary here are the results:

AEROMATCH 105
WEIGHT GRLENGTHBASE TO OGIVEDIAMETER
104.891.2725".6581".24313"AVERAGE
.14.0028".0004".00004"STANDARD DEVIATION
.52.014".0015".00015"EXTREME SPREAD

105 Hybrid Target
WEIGHT GRLENGTHBASE TO OGIVEDIAMETER
104.991.2700".6631".24333"AVERAGE
.03.0033".0007".00002"STANDARD DEVIATION
.16.0018".0025".00005"EXTREME SPREAD

A few notes I want to make:
  1. The Bergers have a much more brassy/yellow color to the jackets, which makes me believe the alloy they use likely has a lower copper content than the Hornady Aeromatch. This would leave me to believe the jackets on the Bergers are slightly harder
  2. The Bergers have a slightly domed bottom at the base of the boattail, which made the length measurements on the caliper slightly trickier than on the very flat bottomed Aeromatch, so that may have added a bit of variance to the Berger lengths as getting it perfectly perpendicular to the caliper jaws was tricky.
  3. The meplats on the Aeromatch look great, I give them a slight edge over the Bergers here.
  4. Both bullets had a slight taper to their diameters, with the boattail/bearing surface junction being the widest point. The Bergers had about .00015-.0002" of taper depending on where you measured, the Aeromatch were about .0001" or so. All measurements were taken at the boattail/bearing surface junction for both bullets.
  5. A few of the Bergers were about .0001" out of round, I didn't notice the same phenomenon on the Aeromatch.
My gunsmith should have the new Proof 6 Dasher barrel chambered by the new year, so I will throw some ammo together in the meantime and get to shooting as soon as the ND winter allows. I'm looking forward to sharing those results with you all.

Arken 4-16 vs Athlon 4-14

I want to hear y'alls thoughts comparing the Arken EPL-4 4-16X44 and the Athlon TALOS BTR GEN2 4-14×44.

Currently I'm running the Primary Arms SLX 4-14x44 with the R-Grid 2 reticle. For $200 shipped I don't think that I could have found a better optic. However, holding wind with the R-Grid 2 sucks. There are no good horizontal reference points until 2 mil. Between the chevron and outer horse shoe is 1 mil, and there is no horizontal line. You're kinda just holding out in space until 2 mil, which is not ideal.

My main reason for wanting to upgrade is reticle. I am very happy with my $200 PA scope otherwise as far as durability, clarity, function. I use it to great effect out to 600 yards no problem whatsoever, except if its windy. I'm very open to suggestions of other optics but before you suggest please know that this is going on a m12 type AR. I do not need any magnification higher than 16x and and want mag down to 3x or 4x at a minimum. Must be MIL-RAD reticle and must have horizontal stadia for wind holds. I'd like to use my 30mm QD rings. Illuminated is highly desirable but possibly not a deal breaker. $500 shipped is my upper limit in budget. I don't like nice or fancy things, I like good things that work good enough for my purposes, which will not be shooting past 600 yards.

I don't need "alpha glass". Happy for dudes who have the time/money for such things but that will never be me. Anyways...

Arken Pros
Capped windage turret
reported longer eye relief than Athlon
Zero stop
Illuminated reticle

Arken Cons
Some poor impressions of the optic are abundant and people dislike their marketing scheme.

Athlon Pros
Shorter/smaller than Arken and Primary Arms
Whole reticle is illuminated
Zero stop

Athlon cons
windage turret is open

Let's hear the opinions! Also FYI if this turns in to a bash Arken thread I'll delete your post. There are enough of those out there. If you had a bad experience with Arken let me hear it, but I'm not here for your vitriol. I'm looking from objective experiences from people who have USED these optics on their rifles for medium range shooting. Thank you.

SOLD Kahles K18i 1-8x24 3GR Reticle

Kahles K18i 1-8x24 with 3GR reticle. In excellent condition and an excellent scope. The glass is amazing and is a better executed 1-8 scope than any others I have used. The 3GR reticle is nice in that it has both daylight bright illumination but also has a simple Christmas tree stile reticle for wind holds when using it for hold overs. It has enough info but is still simple and not too busy.

$1700 shipped

Strongest bore cleaner available

Hello everybody just want peoples opinion on my issue. So was cleaning my tikka after shooting 40 rounds for the first time. I used wipe out and soaked and also g96 and also clp 2000 foam. Many many patches and also bronze bore brush with bronze core. It made the whole barrel spotless and immaculate. However i noticed there is a circle of crud where bullets comes out the neck of case the carbon ring I believe see pic. I tried scrubbing so much other than spinning the brush on a drill which I do for my cheap rimfire. What chemicals are there that is strong enough to remove this ring.

Greetings from the Panhandle of Texas

Hello!

I am from the Panhandle region of Texas and have recently gotten into longer distance shooting. I've been very into shooting for several years now but only recently have I started trying to make shots beyond 300 yards or so. Until now, it has mostly been plinking at the range or night shoots under night vision with friends.

With my new job, I now have access to a range that goes all the way out to 1600 yards so I can finally get into some real long distance shooting! A couple of my coworkers are also very into PRS style shooting and I have the itch now.

For now I'm making do with my 5.56 AR build as I continue to learn and refine my skills. I plan on purchasing my first true long range setup soon, though! I'm really just deciding on an optic at this point - 5-25 Mk5 HD, 4-32 NX8, or go all out and get the 7-35 ATACR. I've been very, very happy with my 1-8 NX8 so I'm currently leaning toward the 4-32 NX8 most but might spring for a Mk5 if I find a solid deal.

Here are some pics from my most recent range trip. Nothin like shooting off the caprock of Texas!
