Tikka SV Aftermarket Stock

Good evening gentlemen,

I’m looking for an aftermarket stock for my tikka supervarmint in 223 caliber. It’s going to be used mainly for FTR/Target shooting. I was leaning towards the Bell and Carlson Target stock CTR. I have a CTR bottom metal and mag to go with it. What’s your guys opinions on it and are there any other suggestions you may have.

Thanks gents

New purchase - MATCH PRO ED 3-18X50 RIFLESCOPE

I picked up the New Bushnell 3-18 Match Pro, and when comparing it in a Side by Side to my Leupold MK5 3.6-18 IMO I'd say the clarity on the Match Pro is definitely better with less CA. The closest house to me is exactly 207 yards away and I can clearly make out the large Phillips head screws on his front door. The MP is brighter and seems to gather more light.

The Eye Box is extremely generous and the 15yrd parallax is very broad not anywhere near as sensitive as the MK5.

The illumination shake awake function is helpful. The Match Pro has some shared features with the MK5 such as the Rev indicator, Zero Stop, Locking Elevation, Caped widget.

The Elevation adjustment is just as Audible and tactile as the MK5 but the Match Pro windage is pretty quite but still tactile.

The Turetts are easier to read especially compared compared to that funky windage line the MK5 has. 40 Mils of Elevation, 14.5 Mils Windage for the Match Pro, Field of View at 3x is 41' at 100 yds and at 18x 6.8' . Has a very generous 3.9" Eye Relief.

I prefer a 34mm main tube over the Leupold 35mm because 98% of my optics are 34mm which I already have plenty options on hand for mounting.

I've had to send in Vortex, Nightforce, minox, Leupold, Burris..what shit show that was🙄 but never a Bushnell HDMR/DMR/Pro.

At only only 2oz heavier and half the price of the MK5 I feel like I've found the perfect SPR Optic. If the reliability is anywhere near as good as the Tactical Elite 3.5-21x50, it's a win.

If anyone is interested in me following up on this thread as I Stetch it out, let me know.

Neck size clarification

Hi

Fairly new to reloading, so assume I know nothing lol.

Reloading for a 6mm Dasher, and the dies I have other than the seating die are:
  • Forster FL die (with expander ball)
  • Redding neck size die with bushing
I have been told that the Forster FL die is over working the brass because it first contracts the neck and then expands it using the expander ball. It does have the removable expander ball. Is there a point in me getting a Redding FL sizing die with bushing? The idea is that I can remove the bushing and just do the shoulder with nothing to the neck, or if I need to size the neck, I can pop the bushing back in. OR, can I just remove the expander ball from the FL die and just do the shoulder + neck contract?

I do have a few questions regarding if and when I should be sizing the neck.
1. If my twice fired brass chambers without an issue, I am guessing that I don't need to bump the shoulders for any reason. Does this mean that I can just use my redding to size the neck and then seat the projectile? If I am not bumping the shoulder, do I even need to size the neck or can I just go straight to seating? (I am thinking not, as the neck might not adequately hold the projectile).
2. Is it recommended to get the mandrel die to expand the neck? If so, what would the steps look like? Will I be sizing the neck with the redding die (assuming I don't need to bump the shoulder), and then use the mandrel to expand? If I do need the bump the shoulder, my current Forster die also sizes the neck. Will the mandrel die be useful in this scenario?

Basically it comes down to if I should be getting the Redding FL die with bushing and/or mandrel die for neck expansion?

Thank you

SOLD Timney Calvin Elite Remington 700 Adjustable 8oz-2.5lb

$200 shipped

Purchased to use in a LaRue Siete, but that rifle doesn't have a true 700 Action and the safety didn't work with it, so it was not a good choice. I sold the rifle a long time ago and now have a couple of 700 triggers that I don't need.

This is the only single stage trigger that I've ever liked. The curved trigger shoe feels a lot like the Accuracy International shoe.

So blasted Typical

And now she wants to run for politics after seeing her little face doing so much good

Here we go again. Every state has laws and enforces laws against abuse in institutional care. I know. I have spent untold hours testifying in District Courts and in Department of Labor hearings against employees who abuse clients in institutional care. People go to jail for committing these crimes. I know, cause my testimony has sent them there.

So, sure enough, the feds pass a law, thanks to that crusader of justice and the savior of the American Way, Paris Hilton, who’s claim to fame is spending untold millions of her daddy’s money to be promote herself as a play girl. That new law, creates YET ANOTHER Federal agency to duplicate state laws and state programs all paid for by you know who.

Also, as I understand it, one of the provisions of the federal spending bill that has been stopped was a $70,000.00 pay raise for the very people who were voting for it. (In case you are wondering that’s only $37,450,000.00 per year (Thirty-seven million, four hundred and fifty thousand dollars) of additional money we, as citizens have to pay out. )

My suggestion to President-Elect Trump. Work with the Republican Congress to eliminate every Federal agency and start over, adding only those agencies that do not duplicate state agencies. And use all that money to pay off the National Debt and give us all a tax break.

223 reamer for 75-80gr class bullets

I’m trying to figure out what reamer specs I should be looking at for a new barrel I’m getting spun up in 223. Unfortunately I’m completely in the dark with what I want/need to get 75-80gr class bullets to work best. I know what works for my other calibers with my bullets choose.

Ive heard some people say the wylde chamber work great but I’ve also heard a “match” chamber with .080-.090” FB is the way to go.

Reloading Tikka T3x 308 - Fires when chambered after bolt lock

New reloader here. Reloading for my Tikka T3x 308. I made sure that before I touched my first brass to reload, I read my Lyman 50th Edition Reloading manual, watched all the YouTube videos on step-by-step reloading, and read a lot on reloading forums. I was able to determine my COAL using the Hornaday OAL Gage and the length of my chamber using the Sinclair Chamber Length Gage. My COAL maxed out at 2.9605". My max chamber length is at 2.0460". This is my first time using a chamber length gage and I tried forcing the brass with the insert to move forward and it was really hard and the bolt was not closing. End up using a vise without damaging the bullet and seated the insert where the bolt closed with some resistance. My brass is Hornady and the bullet is Barnes TTSX BT 168gr. With an FL sized brass, having a case length of 2.0110" I seated a bullet and the COAL was at 2.9095". When I chambered it, it was tight so I backed it down to 2.8805" and I could close it without fighting it but still giving some resistance.

The brass is only fired once and doesn't need trimming since it's way under the chamber length. The case length after resizing was at 2.0080". I tried loading a couple of my available ammo - Hornady ELDX 180 gr (tight fit in the chamber now where before it wasn't), Core-Lokt 180gr (tight fit in the chamber now where before it wasn't and I see the nose getting scratched by the lands, never happened before) and HSM 180gr which run so smooth, no friction whatsoever. The latter has no evidence of scratching. I tried measuring the case length of it which is at 2.0050". It matches exactly what the recipe calls for. The reason I'm trying to go over it is because of what I measured in the chamber. Now I tried to load again the HSM ammo just to make sure it was still smooth and consistent. On my 3rd load, upon locking the bolt, it fired! It drilled a hole in my basement ceiling, went to the kitchen, and stopped at a wall just in front of my dryer. Thank goodness, no one was hurt. But my ears are still ringing after 5 hours.

Now my question is, did I damage my bolt when I tried to force the brass with chamber length gauge to go in further? I've upgraded my trigger using MCarbo Tikka Spring Kit and the trigger pull is at 2lbs. Put blue loctite on the trigger screw. Dropped tested it multiple times and it was not engaging the trigger. I'm thinking of taking it to my gunsmith to have them check it but is there anything I can do before then? The other thing that I did was to replace the magazine with a TIkka 30-06 magazine for longer COAL and the LA bolt stop.

This experience will not stop me from reloading :). I just have to be careful next time.
