Trijicon Credo HX 1-8 on SCAR 17

Anyone use one of these yet? I’ve got the Trijicon Credo 1-6 on my SCAR 17 in an ADM mount and it’s been great. I’m wanting to move the 1-6x to my 14.5” AR and get a little more magnification on the SCAR. It’s a factory 13” barrel with a KNS DiSCARder and MREX rail. I’ve also got the 16” barrel in the longer MREX rail with a Mototech regulator. It wears a HUXWRX Flow 762. For $1050 it seems like a great fit as long as it’s a resilient as the 1-6 which I would think based on its increased weight. I use the rifle for run and gun and out to 300 yards. Anyone have any poor experiences? How is the image at top magnification? I would assume light transmission is better due to increased tube size. I was very happy with the Credo 1-6 on all accounts. The extra $500 for the 10x or 2x the price for the Razor just doesn’t appeal to me. I’ve got high end glass on my MRAD and M82.

Rifle Scopes New Vortex Pro Rings vs Seekins

Anybody have experience with these? Looking at the 0.9" ones to really snug down my scope to my rifle vs the 0.92" Seekins rings, and saving ~$55 doesn't sound bad either (really the main point). All the reviews I've found seem to be positive. Not sure how I feel about the torque specs being engraved on the rings but I'd bet I can live with it.

Optics WTT Leupold MK5 7-35

I have a Leupold MK5 HD 7-35 scope w/CCH mils reticle, that I am wanting to trade for another 7-35x mk5 in MOA. It’s only about 11 months old, I picked it up because I got a good deal on it, but it’s the only scope I run that isn’t in MOA, and I’d like to just keep everything consistent. Does NOT include scope mount. I will throw in the scope chap and some dry erase turret tape.

For the sake of putting a price on it, let’s say scope and mount for $2200 shipped.

Scope for a 6 ARC

First post though I have done a ton of reading here prior to logging in since a 2011 sign on date!

Bought a Ruger American Gen 2 Ranch in 6mm ARC. Barrel is 16.1 inches and overall length is 35.5 inches for reference.

Been looking at the following scopes:
Athlon Helos 2x12
GPO super compact 4x16
Arken, and swampfox look interesting
Vortex Viper PST G2 in 2x10 and 3x15 (upper limits of spending)
All FFP
The GPO Centuri Compact is so new I realize reviews are limited and I've read a members here numerous times.
Athelon - another forum I am on does "drop tests", so far two of the Athlon Helos have failed the testers tests. With that I like the features and price. And I take these tests in consideration and not gospel as some of those forum members do.

My thought process in these scopes was that this is a short rifle overall and I really dont want a scope near as long as the rifle.
I can afford more scope. But for what I am doing I don't think I need a thousand and up optic. A member here, and I quote, "not everyone one needs a $3000.. optic on a $500.00 gun." I want to put other money towards a suppressor soon.

I casually shoot and hunt thick West Virginia woods usually. I'll take any recommendation in something 2x-2x to 16x powers.

And while I am asking is something like this mount needed for a short scope?
Just one I looked at. Is this type generally called a cantilever?

My hunting is usually an old .270 or .45/70 so bare with me :)

Thank you ahead of time!

30-06 and 190-208 grain bullets powder selection?

I have a 30-06 I put together with a Remington 700 action, has a 26” tube heavy barrel 1-10 twist.

I’ve got some 190 grain Berger VLD hunting bullets and 208 grain ELDMS I’ve got 99 rounds of fired formed Norma brass that has been annealed, cleaned, sized, ran threw expander mandrel for consistent neck tension etc chamfered and deburred.

I have staball 6.5, H4350 and H4831SC powders on hand and during fire forming the staball 6.5 was able to push the 190 grain Berger to 2820-2840 with no pressure sings but nothing was consistent. I would group in the .3s and have good SD and ES and load the exact same charge again to confirm and it would be all over the place. Not sure if that’s just from the new brass I was firing or the nature of ball powders. I know the h4350 is a great powder as I run it in 2 of my other rifles, I’ve never tried the h4831. Hoping to at least get 2700-2800 the goal is to just shoot paper right now and eventually go out to 1000 yards. Maybe shoot a deer with the vld hunting bullets.

Which powder would you start with to conserve components?
