Preferred barrels barreled action?

Has anyone had any experience at all with the preferred barrels (barreled action) kelbly Lite action with their carbon fiber barrel? I’m looking at a 22 creedmoor barrel, me and my 8yo son shot yesterday evening and he fell in love with my 22 creedmoor. I use it mainly for my thermal gun, but since deer season opened, I threw a spare atacr on it and we went plinking on steel yesterday. So I want to either build him his own 22 creedmoor and have a dedicated scope on it for him, and leave the thermal on my 22creed. As I have a 6.5 saum dedicated deer gun.

So how is their barrels, and does anyone have any experience with the kelbly lite actions? I currently have defiance, surgeon, impact and a few 700s. Don’t want to build off of any of them, will either buy a origin, or buy this if it’s worth a shit.

Its been a good week deer hunting

"Its been a rough few years hunting here in my home state of Utah, after some very significant winters our deer population has suffered. Utah is an interesting state, filled with natural beauty and wild lands. And every fall it is filled with thousands of excited hunters looking to shoot a Mule deer buck. Even under normal conditions, it can be challenging to hunt these public lands with so many others. But when the deer population dwindles to something like forty-percent of normal, it can be downright depressing for hunting fanatics like me..."

Front stuffers and pumpkin slinger picture thread…

We lack a good thread here in Vintage for contemporary and period muzzleloaders. The pop up from time to time. But the “original sniper” rifles were technically-advanced and beautiful jaeger and Pennsylvania style rifled guns that went to work for an expanding colony and nascent republic!

I picked this stunning Contemporary long rifle up Friday on a whim. Never had one that shouldered so perfectly! .45 cal flintlock. Made c. 1960’s or ‘70 by C. KEMPER. I think it is his son Marvin Kemper who is the Master gunmaker who owns Liberty Longrifles.

Thanks to friend and Master Builder Ed Parry who had this waiting for me when I visited with a “thought you might like this” smile on his face.

Pictures don’t do justice to the light construction… 7/8” or slimmer barrel. Featherweight… simple, highly figured stock.

Post yours up! I know lots of you vintage guys have some stunning original and repro pieces!!

Cheers, Sirhr

Vintage pic thread: Your oldest firearms

This is the vintage section, so how about an all encompassing vintage thread. Your task is simple, show us your oldest firearms. Tell some stories, teach some history, share some pics; all vintage guns are welcome here.

To kick off this thread, I'd like to share something that is very old. Circa 1360-70's, approximately 650 years old! This is an original band-iron hand cannon that was found at the Aljubarrota battlefield in Portugal (the battle took place on August 14, 1385). Due to the extreme age of this firearm, only the barrel remains. It was originally mounted to a primitive stock called a "tiller," the end of which was tucked under the arm of the shooter.

There are a few older Chinese firearms, but I'm only aware of 1 older European firearm - the Loshult Gun. The Loshult Gun dates to about the 1340-50's and is much larger than this hand cannon. Aljubarrota barrels weight about 3+ pounds, whereas the Loshult Gun tips the scales close to 20 pounds. The earlier Loshult Gun is cast bronze, but the Aljubarrota guns were made from bands of iron that have been twisted and forged around a mandrel.

You can see the iron twisting in the pics below, the last pic is a composite that shows what the gun looks like "unwrapped." The 4th pic shows the inside of the barrel, with light shining through the touch hole in the rear (lol).

McLeod Precision Stabilator Pro but for Manners.

I tend to venture down different rabbit hole tunnels in the pursuit of balance and usability over adding LOTS of products to my kit. I like my plate and bag from time to time but I found it less and less useful as I was able to get stable and level doing other things or so I thought. Then realized it wasn't all that and started looking again. Nation wide friendships develop the more matches we shoot and the more we communicate on the inner webs. @littlepod had a cool Rail Plate that was also his ARCA rail. 2 for 1 and removed extra weights from the system w/ balance still being great.

@McLeod_Precision Stabilator Pro. It is designed to work on Chassis like MPA and others with Mlok slots in the bottom. I took one and Home Machined with drill press for it to work on the Manners Stocks that utilize the Factory Manners Weighted ARCA Rail with the 3 - 1/4-20 screws. This rail is mostly found on the TCS, PRS1 & PRS2. I also believe it is an option on most others like the T4 & Team stocks. I'll show you pictures below, but I am no machines and my work is CRUDE!! Kevin is going to feel the waters and see if there is enough interest for him to add this to the lineup and make it a factory option. If you're interested let them know. I am going to continue to work with them on a couple of Manners mounting options for their different bolt patterns. 419 rail and Manners rails. Hopefully it could be made in 1 piece instead of 2 different ones.

I ran mine for my first match this weekend and it was great. I never had an issue where it was to big, wide or in the way. It works amazingly well. My front support bag of choice is an Armageddon Gear Schmedium and the support of the 2 is rock solid. I will have more practice in with it, but I am 100% ready to have Kevin go for it with the hole pattern needed.
