Donor rifle opinions

I bought this as a 6 digit M40 donor. My plan is to use the receiver and bolt and sell off the rest to recoup some funds. To me, it’s just someone’s old custom varmint or BR rifle. Any reason not to dismantle it? In other words, is it from a prestigious builder or does it have any value beyond the sum of its parts. It came from one of the big flat states in the middle if that gives any context. Very odd and specific build for sure. But beautiful wood.

Left hand thumb hole, right hand action, bedded as a single shot. Octagon barrel with round receiver end. Is that a 40X trigger? The only identifying marks are “ 9 9 70 ES” under the barrel. That stamp left a nearly perfect impression in the bedding material.

Firearms Marlin 1895G 45-70 and Henry All weather 45-70

I have three 45-70s so think I’ll sell one.

Sold Marlin 1895g with Midwest industries forearm. I am not original owner and have fired it 5 times. Also comes with original wood forearm. $850 shipped insured to your FFL from an individual. Doesn’t have box, or a rear sight.

I also have a never fired Henry all weather 45-70 with the extended rail. Bought brand new last year and haven’t taken it out. Has original box. I’d consider selling this and keeping the marlin. $1100 shipped.

West Virginia

Going to be moving to Morgantown, WV for work in a few weeks. Started looking for gun stores and shooting ranges. Found Harry Jones gun range that offered up to 1000yrd, any others worth looking into?

Don’t have a house yet so I can’t give a local area yet other than where work is, but I will absolutely not be living in the city, or PA, VA, or MD.

New member from Western NY.

I'd like to introduce myself to the forum.

I've been a firearm enthusiast ever since I can remember watching old westerns as a kid. Always wanting a slick lever action and a shiny revolver. Now that I'm a little more grown up (36 yrs old) I've been able to acquire a few of these things and work my way into the hobby. I would not consider myself an avid shooter, or collector. But I do what I can, when I can. I've been a little into 1911s for the past couple of years, and now back into rifles. I've been searching for a nice .223 bolt gun to add to my collection.

I live in the more southern part of Western NY. I'm lucky to have a little range in my back yard, and neighbors that don't mind the noise.
I'll be cruising this forum keeping an eye out for a DIY shooting table and whatever other good information I can find.

New Sniper Team, what ammo for LMT 308

My department is trying to form a sniper team. We currently have Federal GMM 168 grain 308 ammo. Very accurate but terminal ballistics suck.

Looking at switching to the Hornady 168 grain ELD Match or the ELD Match AR.

Does any one know that actual bullet difference in the ELD vs the ELD AR?

Any other budget friendly options for 308 duty ammo? Thanks in advance.

The Shuttle that damn near blew up...

So this is probably the closest NASA came to losing a shuttle.... without losing a shuttle.

Once again corner cutting and trying to get out cheap.

They got damned lucky!

This just crossed my radar screen today... and I had no idea. Long gone by then. But... damn. When will these retards learn that stepping over dollars to pick up nickels is fucking retarded?

Cheers!
