Think so? You walk up to the car you just stopped and find out who your dealing with, potentially the hard way. There is no way most of the time you can know. You answer a service call that turns out to be an ambush by one or more shit bags that just want to kill a cop. I went on two such calls, I walked away from one and was carried away from the other. In my 40 years on the job I stopped two bullets and on blade. How about you try that. You spend 90% of your work hours seeing and dealing with people at their worst or worst moments of their lives or last moments of their lives. You try your best with every tool the law allows to take these animals that prey on society off the street and time and again see them walk away or are let go when they should be locked up so that they can't hurt or murder YOU OR YOUR FAMILY. You miss all the birthdays, graduations, kids first steps, time with friends and family. You work 70+ hours a week, details, side jobs to make the income you need to live as well as most other people. And worst you attend the funerals of bother and sister officers that lost their lives protecting yours.

And for the super low entry requirements compared to the pay and benefits, plus you don’t need to invest any meaningful amount of your own money in your education, except a few polyester shirts they made you buy one day… it’s like winning the mental midget lotto
That's the way it really is. I keep hearing this Bullshit about taking away qualified immunity for police officers. Go ahead, their won't be any police officers to call when you have an emergency. I have a friend that nosed in an Air Tractor in northern CA while spraying sunflowers. He hit a flock of geese that flew up out of the sunflowers. Those airframes are built like tanks. Congratulations on your retirement! Serious. 20 years here. After I retired, It took me a while to realize pretty much everything I did in my career, most people would never understand or appreciate. You can't even begin to explain things to someone who has never wore a Badge. They will woof woof and tell us we are all a POS. Whatever man. I know what I did. I helped people. I put some seriously bad people away for a long time. Watched some pussy prosecutor let shitbags go. I did my job and I would do it all over again. If my Brother Officers needed me again would be there.
I find it funny on this site how if you wore a Badge you are instantly anti-gun, only the police should have weapons etc. I worked with some really great Officers and Deputies and Fed S/A's that understood and respected the 2nd Amendment. Some of them are still working. I also worked with some real pieces of shit. Had no business being in law enforcement or breathing oxygen for that matter. No organization is immune to it.
Once again, I know I made some mistakes, I figured it out. I helped a hell of a lot more than I hurt. No regrets would do it all over again. Don't care what anyone thinks I did. I know. Now I'm on the the next part of the movie.

The nice thing about a PLUP is, it may cost $500-$1000 a year but it lowers all of your other premiums on your cars and house. Sounds like a win/win if they let you write off the entire amount.
