Eastern Oregon is a different planet than Western Oregon. Still not a lot of people out there. Incidentally I know exactly where Coyote Jack's place was located. I went there a couple of times and found some old bottles, broken glass and other stuff. No old traps though. I hunted coyotes and bobcats near there and I had my Airedale Angus with me. I like to think Coyote Jack was there.

He appears to have been the Ben Lilly of coyotes.

Ben Lilly wasn't married, had no mouths to feed other than his hounds and probably had a screw loose. He killed so many bears and mountain lions, the government told him to knock it off. That was before game laws.
