I need a LPVO with daylight bright illumination and uncapped turrets... I've kinda narrowed it down to an NX8 or a March shorty.
Anybody played with them both, especially side by side, is the March worth the price difference

I sighted in an nx8 yesterday, was pretty impressed with it. can't speak to the March. I've had good luck with the Vortex stuff, the dot is daytime visible.

Ya I'd grab a vortex if it didn't have capped turrets... I really want uncapped easily adjustable turrets which is why I kind of limited it to the nightforce and march

So this is my dumb opinion. The 1-8 ATACR is better than the NX8. Having said that I don't think any of the scopes you mentioned are daylight bright (at least not high noon in Texas bright). If you are not going to use the rifle to fight in the Ukrainian war, you might want to try the Primary Arms PLX line. They have a FFP and a SFP option that are absolutely daylight bright (Trijicon ACOG bright).

The March shorty DFP is a very unique scope. It has few faults and although I don't know for sure I'm guessing it's got similar IQ to the NX8. This March isn't spectacular in IQ but not bad either.

Although the illuminated dot is small in my March DFP 1-10 shorty it's pretty bright. Probably is brighter out there but I can see it on a nice day still.

The March is nice enough in so many ways I'm keeping it. The thought of getting a NX8 has never crossed my mind because I like the side focus on the March which I've used often to clean up the IQ which I prefer and in case as an option I put it on one of my airguns or 22's to hunt with.

Also consider this... For the price that I see of the March, you could get the ATACR 1-8 with a lifetime warranty that is daytime bright with a dot you can see and serviced here if something goes wrong. Just leave the turret caps off when needed.

Ive got a Leupold VX6 1-6 with the firedot reticle and it seems to be what I'd consider daylight bright... I just looked through an NX8 outside today and as best as I can tell without having them side by side which I didn't the NX8 looks just as bright as my VX6 firedot reticle. I've never seen a March 1-10 in person so I can't really know for sure but it looks bright in review videos and people claim that it is... It appears to be the same illuminated center fiber optic dot that the Leupold has.
Idk much about the primary arms scopes, I have one of their older 1-6 scopes that has worthless illumination but I've never seen one of their nova reticles in person... I do really want open tactical style turrets to quickly and easily dial elevation as I might end up running subs through the intended gun and hunting with it as well. I thought all the primary arms LPVOs I saw had capped elevation turrets

The Trijicon Credo 1-10-28 is daylight bright and is excellent in my opinion. Trijicon makes the same scope in MIL & MOA (HX model)

I looked through a Trijicon Credo, EOTech Vudo, and and NX8 today and the trijicon by far had the worst illumination, it was completely washed out when I took it outside. Ive got a couple trijicon fiber optic illuminated scopes that are dumb bright but their battery powered version doesnt seem to be.
The NX8 and the specific Vudo I looked through with a green center dot looked about the same and were both very visible in full daylight... the NX8 actually seemed a bit brighter but it could just be because the illuminated area is bigger tough to tell

I just ran downstairs and looked through my nx8 and march (gen 2 with dual plane ret). And the ATACR

Id call getting behind the March a bit more forgiving than the NX8. And at their top zoom, the NX8 shadows more.

I find the NX8's reticle to be much brighter. Whether it's easier to pick up bc it's brighter or bc there is more than just a small dot illuminated, I can't say. Or I can say, and it's both.

Having the adjustable parallax is nice but I found it a bit finicky just playing with it now from close to ~200 yards.

I don't want to talk too much about glass sharpness bc atm my eyes are tired and the scopes focus might be a bit off and so comments might be me vs the scopes.

I like the color/ light transmission in both.

I love the NF reticle. The March one is cool too

Value is subjective. But Im not sure the March is worth the cost. As much as I want to really support the product.

I will also add that while I dislike the ocular tube movement when zooming the ATACR, the image is flat and forgiving and feels bigger as compared to the NX8. (im not referencing specs, just my eyes' feeling). Whether *that* is worth it... But unless size is reeeaaaly important, if you were going to spend more, the ATACR feels an easier scope than the March.

I like the NF reticle more than the Vortex (which I have but hasn't been mounted for a while).

I don't have a nx8 to compare anything for you, but I do have a March 1-10 first gen with the custom mount, and I really like it. My dot is not quite as bright as the vortex razor gen 3 1-10 I previously owned, but brighter than the kahles 3gr k16i I still own.

I found the eye box on the March and the vortex to be about the same, while the SFP kahles had a larger one. I love the DFP feature of the March and the size and weight, which is why I settled on the March over the vortex.

I decided to try it out after reading and watching @koshkin review them, and I am glad I did. March optics seem to be polarizing though, so thr subjective nature of scopes really comes into play with the tradeoffs of the March design vs a more traditional scope.

illumination. The red is better than green, but both are day light bright.

Yes it was the 1-10× with the segmented circle around the crosshair... they out a brand new battery in it and I didn't think it was anywhere close to being considered daylight bright. I took it outside and on its brightest setting you could tell the center of the reticle didn't look black but you had to really strain to really notice the red. Not even in the same ball park as the NX8
