Well, finally did it- AWSM 338 LM

I have several Arctic Warfare rifles, 2 in 308, one in 260 and several other poor man's AIs in chassis.

now i have acquired an AWSM in 338 LM to go with those rifles..... wtf do i do now?

new AWSM in 338lm is in green with original fluted barrel and muzzle break.


been shopping for ammo... one maker has their velocity and energy numbers flipped. I was like "4,471 FPS at the muzzle? no chance."

Congratulations on your new acquisition. I found mine in 2011 when stationed in the UK. I had the opportunity to run it though it's paces with Lydd Club on the southern coast of the English channel.

love the case. i assume it's an original transit case?

Yes, the transit case is original. I found some of the internals but the CES is far from complete.

i dont know if i want an actual transit case but i need something bigger than the IM3300 Pelican. its snug in there with the but and muzzle up against the sides.

a non-AI explorer case may be a better way.

i could use my 30 cal can on that if i went that way. as of now, i dont have a 338 can and thats an inconvenience.

whats the tenon threads on the old AWSM? i am certain the new AXSR pre-sit barrels will not fit it becuase i think they changed the action tenon threads?

It was a good price. You did very well. Hawk that Trijicon off of it and get some money off a PMII. I believe there was some good deals on them recently in the marketplace here.

how many mags is enough mags? i think i have 8-10 that came with my MK13 deployment kit. i only currently have one for the AWSM 338. but they are $120 a peice so its tough to drop a grand on 8 mags.

I have 3 right now. For me it seems to be plenty. But to each their own.

going to have 4 total. thats a full box of ammo loaded up between those 4. i think that is plenty.

anyone know off the top of their heads what surplus ammo can will hold 200 rounds of 338 lapua ammo in the boxes? Or maybe 100 rounds and i get two boxes?
