After 7 1/2 months waiting for the form 4's I finally got to shoot my TBAC 22S-1 and .45 Osprey.

The TBAC exceeded my expectations by a long shot. So fun to shoot on the end of a SIG Mosquito. Shot sub sonic, some cheap american eagle loads and found the gun to be incredibly quiet and surprisingly accurate. Most notable was that the high velocity loads were not much louder than the sub-sonics.

The Osprey not so much ... tried shooting it wet and did not appreciate the particulate blown back in my face after putting a capful of water in it ... perhaps I put in too much.

I had hoped that the Osprey would not cover the crimson trace (it barely got in the way) and I also assumed that I would be able to use standard sights ... nope. More work needed.

Good shooting ...

Any suppressor will screw your sight alignment up with standard height sights. You almost always need the suppressor height. I have them put on most of my handguns regardless because I have the slide milled for the RMR, If its a polymer gun.

I have Osprey in 40 and 45 and the 40cal can is the only one that produces any blowback for me. The two 45 cans run great and usually we use wire pulling gel or white lithium grease. Water is outdated "wet" technology!

Osprey is good stuff. One of the 45 cans is on a FNH Tactical and the other is on a 10mm Glock.

I agree 100%. I also use the Osprey in 45 wet with no blow back. It could be your host or ammo choice. I have noticed a huge difference in performance with different ammo brands. Lots of pressure and noise with UMC cheapo ball ammo, but near .22 subsonic performance out of Tula cheapo russian ammo. FYI I run my Osprey on an FNH Tac. When I run the can wet I just do a dip and shake. Nothing scientific with measurements. Tirant is also a good product, but isn't going to solve any of the issues you had. Plus you have to test fire the can to adjust the indexing, which is a total PIA.

How does the 22s-1 compare to the 22L-1? I have an L-1 on the way, but would also consider an S-1 for pistols if performance was similar.

Indexing in the TiRant is as simple as pulling on can 1/4 inch, rotate, release, lock. Bam, indexed to adjust POI.

Re: Range report: TBAC 22S-1 Rocks!!!

Hi,

The 22S-1 might be a dB or two different on the meter, but to the ear shooting .22LR or subsonic, it sounds the same as the 22L-1. I prefer the 22S-1 for my .22 pistols. You can order it with no taper to match up with a Pac-Lite Ruger Mark II/III/22-45 upper also.

Re: Range report: TBAC 22S-1 Rocks!!!

I notice a touch of difference between my L-1 and S-1 on paclite rugers. The L-1 exhibits 100% no FRP and is by far the quietest 22 can Ive heard to date. The S-1 has a slightly louder first round then quiets down near L-1 quiet but not quite with bulk federal ammo.

I do love how stupid light my MKIII is with paclite, dovetailed fastfire, and 22S-1 is.

Yes, shoot it and see where it hits. Pull and rotate and re-shoot. Rinse and repeat until its right. When you change host weapons redo the entire process. I guess you could mark the can with something to indicate the proper index point for a given host. I'd like to hear if anyone has tried this.

Point is you must shoot the weapon to even discover the POI. With Osprey, as KYS338 just mentioned, all you do is throw the lever, rotate, and relock lever. Done.

Re: Range report: TBAC 22S-1 Rocks!!!

Did some more shooting with the Osprey. Much better this time there IS a difference in the ammo used.

So for those that are using wire pulling gel instead of water ... what is the preferred application process?

Thank you ...
