Got it yesterday and mounted it up. Let me say ...it is amazing. I may have shed a tear while holding it. I shot with it today and wow a true work of art. To any one with any doubts, toss em and get one. They are worth every penny. I got the BT-10 model and mounted it on a RRA LAR-8.

Re: My new Atlas bipod!

The Atlas is about all I use anymore. If anyone is looking for one, check out MileHighShooting here on the hide as they seem to have them in stock most of the time.

Re: My new Atlas bipod!

not to sound like a noob, but from those who have them, what do the atlas bipods provide? i mean its about $170 more than a serviceable adjustable bipod, and as with anything i believe it could be worth it, but what specifically does it provide? thanks for the information.

+1 on that. Everyone keeps talking about these bipods and I see them everywhere. From users, what's all the fuss about? Differences from Harris?

Re: My new Atlas bipod!

Jon and TMC I was in your group not that long ago but I forked out the money for my V8 with the AICS Spigot and boy am I happy. The thing is, Harris' work very well and it may be hard to justify more money but this bipods durability factor is enormous along with adjustablitly the legs provide and the many different feet for different conditions offered. I say atleast try one if you dont like it they sell quick.

Jon, TMC...not criticising you or wanting to sound like a grouch but there is a sh1tload of "What's so good about the Atlas?" posts on the Hide with a LOT of input from those that have them and love them, those that have tried them but stayed with what they had and those that have not tried them but still have an opinion...rather than just post the same old same old here...use the Search function, it's out there if you look.

To summarise - I've run Harris, AI/PH and Atlas. Atlas wins hands down....why? Not saying that other solutions don't provide some of these facilities (i.e if you add PodLock etc. to a Harris) but for me:

1)45 degree capability
2) Choice of attachments mean I can run with my AW/Spigot mounts or railed guns very easily and extend the legs if necessary without buying a whole additional bipod.
3) Easy to run rigid (if that's what you want?) or dial in cant and pan as needed with simple rotation of thumbwheel..
4) Neat solution to claws and spikes - no rotation issues that I had on early Harris compatible claws for example
5) Light but robust at the same time
6) Great engineering, makes some others look like they were designed and built in the Dark Ages.
7) Kasey has some of (if not the) best CS focus I've come across
8) and ...NO SPRINGS!

Re: My new Atlas bipod!

True. But there are also lots of "I got my atlas bipod yippee" threads, did there new to e another one? It just made more sense to post in the most recent thread onthe subject. Specifically I wanted to see why the op chose to get an atlas bipod over other models. But thank you for the information. I probably need to handle one myself to understand the drastic price difference

Re: My new Atlas bipod!

Only complaint I have is adjusting the legs while prone, getting em longer is difficult in some instances, but besides that, I like mine.

I used a little grease on the legs and by working that collar and moving the legs up and down..... seems to have helped them break free and become easier to adjust quickly.

Re: My new Atlas bipod!

Yeah, they're OK....but I only have four so what do I know?

Re: My new Atlas bipod!

Everyone has an opinion. The best thing you can do is buy one and try it. You can always sell it for pretty much what you have in it.
Im not going to sit here and say they hands down better than the harris. To be honest Im considering getting rid of mine and going back to all harris.

Re: My new Atlas bipod!

I keep thinking about getting an atlas, the ability to swing the legs back towards me at a 45 degree angle seems to be he way to go on the barricade at Sac Valley. That way, I think I'll be able get a rear bag in.....

But I just haven't been able to justify the extra cost for use on one obstacle.....

I'll do that, thanks Adam.

Re: My new Atlas bipod!

It took me awhile but I finally broke down and purchased an Atlas a few months ago. I am very impressed with it. Harris bipods have always worked and will continue to. I'm sticking with the Atlas though. Rifles Only or Mile High Shooting Accessories is where I'll shop, both great people.
