100$ savage axis

So a guy at work was hurting for money and selling guns, I told him I would give him 100 bucks for his savage axis with med contour 20 inch threaded barrel with looks to be GI birdcage flash hider, a 20moa EGW base and a crappy bipod. So I ordered some Burris ZEE steel rings a hand lapping tool and 142.00 Bushnell 3200 straight 10 from SWFA. Also getting with the guy on here for a 10 round detach box mag. I think for the money I have in it it will be a GREAT 600< gun. The stock is garbage though and no replacements as of yet. Any opinions, thoughts on this rifle or the setup would be appreciated.

I believe Kevin Rayhill @ Stockade can fix you up with one of his stocks for the Axis.

there are actually several different used stocks for sale on accurateshooterforum right now. I am hoping to get one here soon to replace the crappy plastic on my model 12. I got it same way you got yours (Someone hurting for money). Glad I bought it as it shoots pretty decent although I am planning on reaming it out to 22-250AI.

The Axis gets a lot of trash talk thrown it's way (kind of like most any Savage!), but the one I have experience with (my neighbor's .243, which I helped him develop loads for and it shoots .5-.75MOA) is a great gun for the money. For the investment you'll have into it, I don't think you'll be sorry.

IMHO the axis action alone is worth the $100. Then all of the extra stuff would be extra stuff in your pocket.

Any pics or post of this said stock?? Last I knew no one was making a stock for the Edge/Axis rifles..

I seem to recall seeing that any Stockade stock could be inletted for the Edge/Axis.

Of course I read it on the internet so it MUST be true...only way to find out is give Kevin a call and ask.

OK , gave stockade a call and its a no go on making a stock for the axis. I might get a Boyd's stock for a 110 and order a bottom metal and bed the lug. Or hell just leave it be and shoot the hell out of it, I'll get pics up tomorrow
