I searched and searched for this comparison and they were either the new Bushy 3.5-21 scope or one was fixed power or they threw in a Vortex or something.

Ive pretty much narrowed it down to these two scopes for my choice. Ive heard good things about both but lets see what the hide says. Both FFP, both mil-mil. Only difference is the Bushy is several hundy cheaper. Going on a Remington 700 AAC-SD .308. Most of its life will be 500 or less yardage. Dont have a 1000 yd range close enough but working on putting one in at a buddies property. Shooting steel, occasional hunting, punching paper, etc will be its job. Im up in the air on illuminated vs NON. Feel free to shed light on that too, no pun intended. Thanks guys. Yall have gave me some SOLID advice thus far and I appreciate the hell out of it!

Glen, here is part one and two of LWUSMC's review of the BTE;

If your on the fence about Ill. vs Non-Ill. get illuminated and it will serve you 2 fold;

1) You'll have if you want/need it
2) If you ever sell your scope, it will likely enhance your resale

I've looked through both brands and to me the Bushnell has the better glass, YMMV. When you compare the reticles by far my favorite is the G2DMR.

Glen, if it were my money, and I lived as close as you do, I would drive to Red Oak and look through both of them. SWFA is only 2 hours away from you.

I love my SS 5-20, I also loved the Bushnell HDMR I used extensively this summer. I didn't use the 6-24 Bushnell, but if everything was the same between the HDMR and it, I can say the following:

The knobs are nice, but 5 mil per turn with no zero stop left me confused a couple times

Glass isn't as good as the SS

Aesthetic appeal (which admittedly doesn't mean nearly as much) is a bit higher to me on the SS

DEAD ON tracking. Very important.

I recently sold my Bushnell in favor of the SS. My SS was simply *much* brighter/clearer glass.

I woould vote Bushnell. they have came long way in last few years and thier elite tactical line is pretty hard to beat for the price.

Stopped in SWFA on my way home from work and WOW that 5-20 is a tank of a scope! Very nice piece of glass! Turrets were nice, really liked the reticle and overall was just impressed.

I love my SWFA its is a solid scope you always gain the advantage with it that if it fails you still retain a formidable impact weapon lol.
