Hey guys,

I was considering sending a stripped AR15 upper and lower I have to be Cerakoted when I started to ponder if I can do it myself.

I have a Badger Renegade Krome airbrush but I think the needles are too fine to apply Cerakote. I can always find some piece of shit one somewhere that's larger.

For doing small parts can you just use a toaster oven? My wife will have my balls if I try to do anything like this in our kitchen oven.

You can probably fit most pistol slides and even the frames in one too...

I used my wife's oven until I built one for my shop. The smell/fumes are not bad. The problem with the toaster oven is not being able to hang parts. Also a POS HVLP gun will likely produce POS results.I learned from experience. I now use a Iwata with a 0.8 nozzle. It's likely your airbrush will work better than a POS gun. A peace of duct work over a cheap hotplate might work better.

How is the gun you get when you buy the H series Kreacote kit. Or is one better off purchasing a separate unit.

For one lower, it is not worth the time, but if you plan on doing it a lot, then build a real oven and start painting. You will need a blasting cabinet also, and air, and room, and... ect.

When I first started spraying cerakote I did a couple guns using a cheap harbor freight air brush. The results were great, I had to throw it away after awhile and I finally broke down and bought an Iwata gun. If you dont have a cabinet to blast and an oven then yes you are better off sending it off. If its something you want to see if you can do then give it a try.
