Hey Im in Buffalo NY... I got lucky friday night as it was snowing hard here and I was hunting a cut cornfield when this guy made the mistake of following a doe out before dark.. I made him pay for it. But I gave him a ride home in my truck.. he scores 130 exactly. Not a booner but my best buck so Im happy..what do you guys think? 20 gage 870- 200 yards away.. lightfield sabots.. rifled barrel pinned as well.. timney drop in trigger kit.. 2lb pull- Nikon 3/9/40 with BDC reticles and yes it was a 200yard shot...good luck to anyone still hunting this year..

Re: Big Buck in NY

thanks guys! Ive not stopped smiling... I will say that all the shooting I do which Im sure you guys do as well.. makes it a lot easier when it comes down to crunch time and its time to make a shot... Of course scopes and ammo have come a long way.. 5 years ago I wouldnt have taken that shot.. now I shoot my muzzleloader 300yards..

Re: Big Buck in NY

Nice buck I am just to the east of you in Rochester I have hunted hard this year no luck yet. Who did your gun work on the 870. I was looking around here and couldnt really find someone. Ended up buying a savage 220F.

Re: Big Buck in NY

i did my work on it. I painted it OD green with duracoat... I bought a timney 870 trigger kit.. and installed it.. and I drilled and tapped the receiver and pinned the barrel...but thats all easy stuff to do.. anyone can do that stuff..

Re: Big Buck in NY

thanks guys Im still just reeling about it.. I feel very lucky.. i will admit that for years I hunted and I have killed bucks but nothing exceptional like this and I felt kinda left out.. of course hunting shows and TV are not the real world. especially here in NY where if its brown its down. In places like Ohio and Indiana where you can only shoot one buck.. people tend to wait on bigger ones.. Here where most yahoos will shoot a spike... Those young bucks are hunted from Day one.. places where good management takes place.. young bucks dont see pressure and hence they arent going nocturnal at 2 1/2 years old. I had land before a nasty divorce.. 80acres and the guys on two sides were into management.. we would pass younger bucks.. but one neighbor didnt care how old they were and he would shoot anything that walked....Im sure you guys know what Im talking about..

Nice buck bro and great shot!! I was up in North Pa last week at a buddy of mine's farm. Westfield!! I didn't see any heads like that. We had shitty weather though!!

Re: Big Buck in NY

Sweet!!! It's good to see someone still hauling a slug gun for white tail back home. I'm from Wellsville and really miss big game season as work keeps me away for most of the year.

NICE NICE NICE.
