So this is my new Idea for a neat Varmint rifle/Wifes deer rifle. The CZ 527 carbine in 7.63x39 is a great little rifle on a sweet little action. My original idea was to re barrel one to 6woa but I wouldnt be able to seat heavies in the mag. So the 6ar or 6ar turbo was the answer for a neat little >6lb rifle. Thoughts? Any experiance with the 6ar(6mmgrendel) case?

Yeah, that's a great idea. I had the same idea, except CZ 527's went through the roof. Same with Rem 799's (also fitted out for 7.62x39).

IMO, this would be awesome if we could start getting gunmakers to manufacture a really light long range round in a bolt action.

I think I can get the complete build done for under $1000 with a good barrel and iron sights installed.

True,

CZ wouldn't do the Grendel because AA wanted to invoke his 'proprietary rights'. It wasn't worth it financially for them to do that. And for some reason, Bill wanted his round to 'make it' in an AR platform. He was not interested in having other platforms help take his cartridge off.

Added:

This is evident by the fact Remington did not chamber the 799 in 6.8SPC when they had full rights to that. Instead they chambered it in their 700. Different situation, but same issue.

Savage came out with the model 25 for these light medium rounds. But, built the rifle so cheap (looked cheap too) and wanted so much it never sold.

I do apologize if I made it sound like it couldn't be done. I have seen a couple also. At that time, they were a grand a piece. Some guy had built up 2-3 of them and was selling them on GB.

Personally, I've really liked the round in an AR, but I'm thinking I'd like it even more in a bolt gun.

I necked one to .375 ... its very quiet. </div></div>

man that looks like a lot of fun! Any problems necking up the brass? What dies did you use?

Re: CZ 527Carbine 6mmGrendel

Rebarreled my 7.62x39 to 6PPC. I had a lot of brass already and a buddy that gave me more from his BR gun. I love the 527 and this one shoots great. My spotter counted 55 prairie dog kills with 50 rounds of ammo on a trip a few years back. That was back when PD were plentiful in the TX panhandle.
I also have a 527 that is converted to 17 Ackley Hornet. That thing is a lot of fun. I get 3900 FPS from 20 grain Hornady bullets.

Re: CZ 527Carbine 6mmGrendel

I haven't decided which action I'm having my 17-6.5G AI done on yet but it'll probably be a CZ527.

I'm also trying to locate a Stiller Cobra drop port for this build if anybody knows where to find one. I called Stiller and they quit making them.
