Disclaimer- I just want opinions and reasons why you think the way you do. Confirmation bias can a bear and am wanting to hear opinions other than mine coming from educated folks(Snipershide not ARFcom).

When do you think ammo will be back in normal stock? Why then? Even the question is tough because of the differing types of ammo. I posted an earlier Pmag timeframe thread and this got posted
"Status Update
By Valley Guns II
Attention F.B. fans: to follow will be several IMPORTANT Info updates about the status of the gun industry currently, followed by an INVENTORY UPDATE: 1) We traveled to Texas for Industry meetings concerning the shortages, here's what we were told. Smith & Wesson-is running at Full capacity making 300+ guns/day-mainly M&P pistols. They are unable to produce any more guns to help with the shortages. RUGER: Plans to increase from 75% to 100% in the next 90 days. FNH: Moving from 50% production to 75% by Feb 1st and 100% by March 1. Remington-Maxed out! Armalite: Maxed out. DPMS: Can't get enough parts to produce any more product. COLT: Production runs increasing weekly...bottle necked by Bolt carrier's. LWRC:Making only black guns, running at full capacity...can't get enough gun quality steel to make barrels. Springfield Armory: Only company who can meet demand but are running 30-45 days behind.

AMMO: Every caliber is now Allocated! We are looking at a nation wide shortage of all calibers over the next 9 months. All plants are producing as much ammo as possible w/ of 1 BILLION rnds produced weekly. Most is military followed by L.E. and civilians are third in line. MAGPUL is behind 1 MILLION mags, do not expect any large quanties of magpul anytime soon. RELOADERS!!!!

ALL Remington, Winchester, CCI & Federal primers are going to ammo FIRST. There are no extra's for reloading purposes....it could be 6-9 months b/f things get caught up. Sorry for the bleek news, but now we know what to expect in the coming months. Stay tuned, we'll keep you posted. To follow is our inventory update for 1/26/13. Please share this info with your shooting buddies. Shoot safe!"
Now I do not doubt the person stating this is saying what he believes but some things do not add up. What about shotgun shells and 22 LR? Primers are not needed for 22. Shotgun shells already allocated for LE/mil? Are duck hunters not going to get steel 3.5 shells in the fall? What do you guys think and why?

Re: Ammo availability timeframe?

I went to a local western chain store yesterday and the gun department manager told me the two year supply they had in the distribution warehouse was gone and their supplier told them the ammo manufacturers Remington Federal And Winchester among others were 5 years back-ordered they will get shipments when they become available

Re: Ammo availability timeframe?

Six months when the hoarders run out of money.

I went to Dick's to buy 500 CCI SV 22LR. Ten minutes before the store opened, there were eight to ten people at the door waiting to get in. The delivery truck arrived over night.

They all bought all they were allowed of the 22ammo on the shelf. It wasn't what I was looking for. All of the 22 ammo was sold by 9:02 am.

Your buddies are doing this. Tell them to knock it off.

Seriously, this is no different than last time.

If you don't need it, don't buy it. Don't hoard it. Don't profit on your buddies.

Now see, this is why I hate these fucking threads already. What the OP posted at the top of the page has already been posted in another thread. But now we need to respawn another thread about the same fucking thing.
I will now post, what I intend to post, every time I see someone whine, bitch, bellyache, speculate, commiserate, and generally wring their hands about things they can do absofuckinglutely NOTHING about.

2 Condominiums 243-3006:
Verily I say unto you dudes, you will see prices mightily raised. Thou wilt see a great famine of supplies, plagues of billy bobs shall descend on thy Walmart with the beating of wings, and strip thy shelves clean like dead men's bones. Fear not for the end is not yet. For they shall ruin their substance before their barns are full. Be of good cheer, for thy local gun store will once again flourish, and plenty shall return to thy loading bench and ammo can.

5 years back ordered. Heard it from a guy that said he knows a dude that has a cousin that works at ammunition plant.
I am throwing the bullshit flag .

Re: Ammo availability timeframe?

I was at a LGS tonight. I watched a private delivery guys wheel cart after cart after cart of ammo in. He must have delivered 60-70 cases of federal 9mm, 40, 45, and 223. Meanwhile the counter guys are telling people one box of ammo per person per day because "we can't get any more" as the delivery guy is asking people to move so he can get through. They were charging about $.80 a round for FMJ 9mm too. Fuck them.

Re: Ammo availability timeframe?

I call BS. Of course the people who are charging 1$ a round for 223 are telling you its not getting better anytime soon, they want all the people who are waiting to cave.

My LGS has DOUBLED its price on primers, powder had a 10% increase, and I didnt bother to look at their ammo.

When I was checking out I said "reloading components dont seem to be effected by much of the panic buying" and the owner stated to the contrary "just got 600lbs of powder and 20 cases of primers, ive been out of stock for a week and a half".

I still cant figure out why 22lr is so hard to find, who the fuck panic buys 22lr?

Exactly what I saw last week, the delivery guy went in and out 10 times, kept having to wait for idiots to get out of his way.

I went to 2 different walmarts today because their site said they had 22lr and 223. I called both the day before and they said it was on a truck and should be there in the morning. I called at 7 in the morning and I was told the truck would be there at 9am. On the way there I stopped by another walmart because they said they were supposed to have 223 that morning also. I get in there and there are about 5 retirement age seniors with beards past their chests all crowded around the ammo case, all with plastic bags in hand. One man said "theyre all out of 223, guess how I know, because I bought the last one!" I was thinking, do you even own a rifle in 223?

I get to the other walmart and the person behind the counter laughed at me when I asked if they had any 223 or 22lr, "it sold in 15 minutes"

Why the fuck are all these people snatching up ammo they know they wont even shoot? I bet these people havent shot anything in years and now are all hyped up because obama is going to get all the guns so theyre going to clusterfuck every walmart, dicks, and LGS in a 40 mile radius.

Im getting sick of this shit.

"yea verily I retort, better to chase the foolery of walmart ammo in hopes to procuring ammo at pre retard prices than to get assraped by local gunstores or asshats on gunbroker"

Re: Ammo availability timeframe?

There is a lot, A LOT of ammo mfg outside the US, maybe our mfg's are "backed-up", but many other mfgs around the world are not, I'm looking forward the large shipments from EU, Korea, and a others to start pouring in. If the Fed would ever allow the Chinese to import into the US ammo and firearms (Norinco) again, prices on a lot of things would drop, big time. I don't see this happening, but NAMO isn't going to let this pass them by, Ruskees will be pouring it out, turkey, Korea, etc. it won't be long.

Re: Ammo availability timeframe?

I think if you are someone who has been stockpiling ammo for a while ME, and you think the sheeple have been buying mostly out of fear since 12/14, which I do, then time will sort itself out.
As you stated, ammo manufacturers are in double time production, and working some plants 24/7.
Some of us have be preparing for these scenarios for a while now, and are NOT surprised by such a panic and shortage.
I shoot 3 gun monthly, so having a stockpile of 12 gauge, .556 and 9mm makes sense to me.
Right now if I dont buy another round of ammo for 2 years, im still good for one match a month, plus reserve ammunition for emergencies.
To sum things up, i believe all this ammo shortage will last as long as we allow it to.
It has all been based on what "might happen", gun bans etc.
If you believe there is a gun ban coming and have not stocked up prior to 12/14, then thats your ass.
If you think big brother will make life more difficult and cause ammo prices to rise and in some cases be out of stock for months, then I agree with you and have prepared accordingly.
either way, its has been educational to watch.

wanna buy some .556?
I can sell you some for $1.50 a round.......
