I have a buddy who rebarrels and does minor gunsmith jobs. He recently got an FFL and started a business under an LLC. On custom guns like GAP, KMW, APA etc., how do they "etch" name and logo on their bbls? What would the equipment cost to do this? What is the easiest way that doesn't look botchy to stamp the cal, and neck dimensions on bbl? Reg "dog tag" letter stamps look awful cheap on a custom bbled rifle. Thank You! krw

Lectro etch company will hook you up with all that you need. The machine and stencile of your choice will set you back about $800.00. The artwork for your stencils will be of your choosing, and you approve them before they are actually made.

Other option is a CNC mill, which is more expensive, and you'll need training. Another option is a stamp machine from Columbia, and again, BIG MONEY!!! About 10 to start.

Last option, a pantograph. You can buy one used for about $800.00, but they cost about $3000.00 new for a bench type.

Hope that helps to start your research.
