I've been entertaining the idea of having some hats/shirts etc made up. That's been the easy part. The hard part is trying to gauge what folks want and are willing to spend.

I'm looking hard/heavy at the 5.11 line of shirts. I used their stuff for 3 years in DirkkaDirrkadad and it performed well. Seems only right to offer something that'll survive more than 2-3 trips through the washer machine.

So, thoughts, ideas encouraged and feel free to speak freely with your ideas.

I'm set on embroidery. No chicken chit silk screening -xcept for maybe some t shirts. Anything else will be stitched.

    Thanks.

    C.

I'd go for some shirts and a hat. As long as the quality's there, I'd pay for it. Shrinking up after three washes would be a deal killer. I like the idea of a stretch to fit hat style too. How many different logos were you thinking of including in this run?

I like hoodies. My duty hat is a 5.11 and I'm not a big fan of it, fit is small and I don't have a big head. The Under Armour fitted hats are nice with a subdued flag on the side.

I'm in for a hat and/or a T shirt once I get back from my govt. funded cruise next year. On that note, I should be able to drop in, in person. The plan is to move to Blackhawk or Rapid next summer and start an edjumication at SDSMT. My fingers are crossed-- I love the black hills.

we did several hats and no matter what happened we'd never have the one somebody wanted in the right color, etc.. so we switched to a single color (khaki) and ran with it, and it worked much better that way. no more bitching, always had the right one in stock - kind of like henry ford "you can have any color car you want as long as it is black". we also had a tag sewn into the brim with our complete contact information (email, site, phone, etc.) and it only added $.65 per hat... i think we'll add pink for no other reason than we get asked a lot about them.

as far as costing structure goes, hats are a pretty decent advertisement, and they directly offset their cost, so i think they're sound in terms of investment. we do $15 or so locally and $20 shipped, but admittedly hand lots of them out... you know how that goes... ;)

our calendar manages to pay for itself, but i question whether it circulates far... coozies seem to be warranted, and again, i question their circulation, but admittedly they are very low cost and easy to stock, ship, hand out, etc.

If you could offer Big & Tall shirts I'm in for several. No one else seems to think there are any big guys out here.

agreed... i'm no small fry... i have zero problem paying extra for a 4XLTall, but nobody offers them. if you actually get hooked up with a shirt supplier that offers larger sizes, folks will buy them since nobody else offers them. when i run onto a sale of a shirt that i don't actually gag while looking at, i'll buy a half dozen at a time... that and there are no shortages of fatties out here... lol. ;)

+1 : add that, if would be 100%cotton, the repeated washing WILL shrinking them, and nothing can be more disturbing that a too-much-tight-fit t-shirt_
if you're shooting, even worse: in one word,BIG SIZES!
    (no 100%cotton? thanks,but no,thanks)

Since I am down in Texas, I want things that I can wear down here that wick away sweat and dry fast. I have found the charged cotton shirts from UA work good for me, they come in loose size...not into the tight spandex fit.

The Niked dry-fit hats also work well, theses products are jus examples of what I would buy...won't buy just plain cotton shirt or el-cheapo hat....

Embroid or silk screen...either one is fine w me but I think the embroid on hat would look good.

Colors...I like the black, and all earth tone colors. ( camo )

Jenny Craig could always help, just sayin' hehehe.

I'm down for a profit cap in the S/M size. Will gladly pay extra for a Made In USA tag.

I don't usually wear short sleeve shirt.....

Now.... Where have I seen the "I Test On Animals" slogan again?.... :D

I don't really give 2 shits about cost as long as it's in line with the overall quality of the product.

Yesterday was an OCD moment. I'd been growing increasingly tired of the shop refrigerator. When I first got started in all of this I bought a little student size unit thinking a few sodas and a sammich would be all I'd ever need.

4x employees later we were all fighting for squatters rights in the dern thing.

    SO

There's a 26CuF double door'd stainless refridermonster in its place now. It's quickly become a magnet for stickers and propaganda. I decided this morning that I'm going to use it as a pallet to explore some logo ideas. . . I'll gin up some stencils and put the kid to work on a sideline project.

More to follow on this. . .

I live in a resort area every business it seems has hats and shirts.the charter boats have a lot of repeat business and have gone to " beefy tees " with pockets for cell phones !

Why in the hell would you put a pocket on a tshirt..... for your cell phone.... while out fishing?! First time you lean over to see what you've caught and goodbye phone!

As far as ball cap style hats go I can't stand the ones that go straight up in the front like ball caps from the 80s. I prefer the ones that are more rounded. They look much more contemporary but some places still like the old style because there is a big flatish field in the front for logos. Lame, IMO. They look great on dorks, however. It looks like 5.11's line of hats are the more modern style.

    Old style:

    Contemporary:
