Ok Fellers talking bolt rifles,

I got custom:
338 Lapua - 300 gr berger hybrids
260 - 130-140 gr bergers
6BR Benchrest Rifle - 105 gr berger hybrids
AR-15 6.5 Grendel - 123 gr AMAX
and a custom 10/22 I built for fun.

I'm wondering what yall think I should put on the list for the next couple builds. I'm wanting to fill some gaps and only going custom or trued rem 700 action with other custom components.... I have a 22-250 that shoots lights out with 52 grain FB bergers (so no reason to spend $ on a custom 22-250 yet)...

I'm wanting to do custom:
20 cal - for 32 gr pills - (thinking 20 vartarg)

maybe another 6mm cal... (thinking 6X47 Lapua)

some kinda 7 cal...

30 cals...

My first guesses are 20 vartarg for the berger 32 gr pills, a 6X47 Lapua, and a 308 for 168 gr pills... I'm up in the air with any other 6mm cal and a .284(7mm) cal... I've had a factory .243 and could not for the life of me get the sob to shoot... Another thought I have is anything I would ever need a 300 win mag and up for I could just use my 338 lapua....

What do yall think fills in the gaps to cover my spectrum here...??!!!!

Get a Tac-Ops.
.250 moa guarantee (he provides test targets that he shot that are usually under .100 moa

.308

Birdsong finish

18-20 inch barrel

When it comes to his rifles Mike has OCD (no offense Mike ;)) if it isnt perfect ad doesnt meet the .250 moa guarantee he tosses it and starts over

Also Mike uses a reamer designed for 168 Federal Gold Match so thats a .250 moa quarantee with factory ammo

Mike is also a great guy to deal with

Hope this helps,

Sam

7wsm or 7rm, crazy good bc in a small package.

I am all about the 6.5 SAUM right now......so that's my vote....just waiting on mine.

Since the 243 is a pig.....send it in and get a makeover.....all you need is a mag bolt, new barrel, DBM. Maybe get a new trigger and stock to boot.

Easy-Peasy

I had that idea but its in a Sako 85 varminter... I dont want to use the sako action because I cant put a pic rail on it or 1 piece scope base and rings... trying to sell the rifle. it shoots MOA at 100 yards.... but I dont want anything thats not .25 or better. if it doesnt shoot it goes by by.

I vote 30-06 with 190s, but mostly because that's the route im currently going.

my second choice would be a 308 with a shorter barrel and built with a lightweight folding stock. more urban portable if the need ever arises...

You have a gap alright, you don't realize where it is. Grin

Try one of these on for size.

These PCP air rifles are fantastic! This one is electronically fired, uses a 10 shot mag but also comes with a single shot loading tray, shoots 1/2" 50Y groups, powerful enough for small game hunting, super ergonomic, nearly silent, cheap to shoot, 50 shots per fill. Especially nice for those that can't walk out their back door and shoot a firearm.

I sure wish you would use this for your match rifle,,,,

Wow looks like you have your bases pretty well covered. I guess it depends on what you "need" your next rifle to do? Hunt(gophers or moose?)...punch paper/steel?
To me looks like you have biggest gap in between your 260 and 338, maybe a 300WM or if you want something little hotter/different maybe a 300Norma, allot cheaper and less recoil than the 338. I have kind of turned into a 6.5 crazy with 6.5 Grendel, CM and SAUM, either way my hard earned $ goes to Black OPS Precision and D&L Sports. Have fun with your dilemma!

I'd like to own a Tac Ops, so I choose to live vicariously through you and suggest you buy one in .308 if you're looking for something in that caliber. Hell, any 308 from one of the builders on the Hide would be great. But the other calibers are tempting too.

Something less formal, and perhaps more fun (or at least a different type of fun). Like an iron-sighted carbine for offhand shooting. Maybe a levergun in .45-70. Just something that puts a smile on the shooter's face without worrying about group sizes.

Haha, Guess what Tom, I do. Different kind of rifle match though.

If you Phoenix guys ever want to try out something different (Field Target air rifle), let me know. All you have to do is show up and start pulling the trigger, we'll help with everything else including using our rifles and ammo. More fun than ever you'd think for sure!
