OK,looking for some basic info on the above based on people's experience and observations.
1) what level of accuracy can one expect from same? i know $ buys accuracy. i am thinking about a entry level type build or off the shelf gun. likely 20" bbl,7" twist. factory ammo, fixed stock, zeiss (i hope)
2) twist rate-do 75 & 77 gr bullets really need a 7" twist? or,will an 8" usually work out well?
3) which off the shelf guns have been shown to do .75 moa (or less?) optics and shooter being up to that? the windhams look good on paper,BCM seems to be in the carbine only mode. any other brands to recommend?
4) ammo? i'm sure fed and black hills get it done. how about south west ammunition, privi, others? most match seems to be labeled 223 not 5.56-an issue?
any other observations?
thanks

Service rifle shooters are getting 1/2 to 3/4 MOA out of their rifles. I have shot through barrels from both white oak and accurate and reliable rifles that held sub MOA out to 600 yds with handloads. These are heavy 20" tubes. I use 24.0 gr of reloader 15 in LC or Win brass topped with a 77gr. Sierra. This gets it done.

You only need a 1 in 8" twist to stabilize the 75 and 77 grain bullets. White Oak, Compass Lake, and Rock River come to my mind first. There are a few others that build for the Highpower crowd that are good as well. Make sure you get a Wilde or 223 Match chamber.

Most match rifles are built on 24"-26" barrels to take advantage of a little more velocity, and a lot more sight radius (which is a good thing). Any reason you're focused on the 20" barrel? Just seems like you're shortchanging yourself here.

In my experience, money does not always buy accuracy. It usually purchases consistency with bells / whistles IMO. I've produced amazing results from my rock river arms rifles & my DPMS 3G1. You just need to know what to look for. As for 5.56, I'm a huge fan of 18" to 20" barrels in a 1:8twist stainless steel. I love my $2500 dollar LMT MWS and its built like a tank & will eat anything I feed it & I will never sell it, but its not the most accurate rifle in my AR collection. My rock river arms varmint bull barrel rifle with a 1:8twist is without question.
