I have a Remington 700 .223 bolt action that I'm going to put AI pattern DBM on. I'm wondering which mags are the best for that?

Use will be general putzing around, and shooting as far as I can with some degree of accuracy and speed. I'm not a competitor but can be a little rough on my stuff. Most shooting will be on a "square" range.

Go with MDT polymers or get the big daddy AI steel? I may switch things next winter and turn the rifle into a 22Nosler if that has any bearing. I may also just make it into a 223AI. If that has any impact on response, I figured I'd get that info out there.

Thanks in advance.

I use MDT, AI, and Accurate mags. The AI plastic mags are sloppy but work. MDTs are more consistent in dimension than AI and are at a great price point but, the specs are slightly different from AI so I had to dremel a very small amount off of the MDTs to fit a rifle that was made for the AIs. I like the Accurate Mags the best. While more pricey the the MDTs they are well made and very well finished.

I built a .223 trainer a few weeks ago and have only had it out twice, but I'm running the Accurate mags (10 rounders) without issues. These have been our "go to" mags for .223 builds for over a year. We started having some issues with some of the plastic 223 AI mags where the bodies would separate. Also some feeding problems with some of the AIs. We're waiting to see what metal solution AI comes up with. But for now, we couldn't be happier with the Accurate Magazines.

We stock them and have the 10s in stock. The 5 rounders are currently out but they did ship us a new batch last week. Should have them any day.

Not to steal your thread OP, but I'm on the same boat as you.

Mark can you please tell us the size of the accurate mag. Is it as tall as the AI 308 AICS magazine? What size is the 5 rounder?

Thanks everyone.

The Accurate Magazines are the same dimensionally as AI mags. For their .223 mags, they use a plastic internal liner that then is put inside the metal body. The magazines are solid. They fit my Black Point Tactical mag pouches fine too so I use the same pouches I use with my primary match rifles. Pics....

That's strange as the MDTs I have pop right into a Manners Mini Chassis made for the AICS mags. Not tight at all.

Just got my GA Precision Squire (223) came with plastic AI mags and they rattle around in the badger m7 bottom metal. Picked up a used accurate mag so waiting for it to land to see if better fit.
