Tennessee Arms is owned by one of my very best friends, great products too. I wouldn't buy another polymer lower. They make every variant, have a look.
, I guess everyone has an opinion. I've seen a good many of them and never seen those things. I've only ever used one and it has been great. I don't prefer polymer for an AR lower and I can get them almost for free.
I don't understand... why?
7075 forged Noveske lowers can be had on sale for $125, give or take. They are by far the best for fit and finish I've seen. You can get a Noveske upper to match for $115. Get a good barrel, trigger and tube, choose a milspec stock and you have a fine rifle. Why fuck with polymer junk?
The only thing polymer has going for it is that it's easy to cut, that's it. You can DIY 'em easier than a forging. As for billet, forging is still stronger and on top of it, they generally use 6061 in billets vs. 7075, though I've seen some billet receivers cut in 7075 as well as a couple of exotics, one looked to be similar to scandium? (can't recall what or who!). HK G28 uses a SS upper FWIW, though US ordered the M110A1 with aluminum as steel is overkill for an upper, much the same way polymer is undercooked for a lower.
If you want cheap, just get Mega. It's the best low price receiver out there IMO/E. I even have a couple I need to sell, just don't need 'em. They have all parts but a trigger.
Seriously, stick with forgings.
And KAC has by far the best forged lower hands down, but it's costly (and Noveske lowers are still finished better). You won't have to change out any parts though, it's GTG out of the box including the trigger. Fully ambi, all built in, no shit hanging off, it was built that way and comes with a SOPMOD stock for $850.
For resale, KAC and Noveske will have higher resale values than many others, except for special or rare or historic rifles. You couldn't give me a polymer AR lower.
Just looking to put a cheap pistol together to mess around with
