Whats the best polymer AR15 lower?

Tennessee Arms is owned by one of my very best friends, great products too. I wouldn't buy another polymer lower. They make every variant, have a look.

Sorry for your friends, but all 3 TA lowers a bud and I tried were the worst quality polymer lowers I've seen. Lots of polymer flashing, and the rear pin slot holds the upper offset to the left. They are the one polymer lower I'd never recommend.

, I guess everyone has an opinion. I've seen a good many of them and never seen those things. I've only ever used one and it has been great. I don't prefer polymer for an AR lower and I can get them almost for free.

Have you seen them as the customer receives them new in the package, or only after someone has cleaned them up to make them useable? They take a lot of work by the customer to clean up all the flashing and sharp edges; you'd have to be blind and numb to miss that on the lowers I tried.

Their customer service person played dumb too, giving us the same line "we've never seen that before". Yeah right. I even sent one back, with the replacement having exactly the same issues and they played dumb with that one too. Buy them if you want, but don't expect Magpul quality or even close to it, more like a step down from Tapco.

7075 forged Noveske lowers can be had on sale for $125, give or take. They are by far the best for fit and finish I've seen. You can get a Noveske upper to match for $115. Get a good barrel, trigger and tube, choose a milspec stock and you have a fine rifle. Why fuck with polymer junk?

The only thing polymer has going for it is that it's easy to cut, that's it. You can DIY 'em easier than a forging. As for billet, forging is still stronger and on top of it, they generally use 6061 in billets vs. 7075, though I've seen some billet receivers cut in 7075 as well as a couple of exotics, one looked to be similar to scandium? (can't recall what or who!). HK G28 uses a SS upper FWIW, though US ordered the M110A1 with aluminum as steel is overkill for an upper, much the same way polymer is undercooked for a lower.

If you want cheap, just get Mega. It's the best low price receiver out there IMO/E. I even have a couple I need to sell, just don't need 'em. They have all parts but a trigger.

Seriously, stick with forgings.

And KAC has by far the best forged lower hands down, but it's costly (and Noveske lowers are still finished better). You won't have to change out any parts though, it's GTG out of the box including the trigger. Fully ambi, all built in, no shit hanging off, it was built that way and comes with a SOPMOD stock for $850.

For resale, KAC and Noveske will have higher resale values than many others, except for special or rare or historic rifles. You couldn't give me a polymer AR lower.

^^^^^ Agree 100% ^^^^

For "cheap but functional", I think the advice to stick with aluminum lowers is good. (Forged, not billet, for lower cost with good strength.)

The reason I bought a couple polymer lowers was for light weight builds; if you're truly building light weight (as in sub-5 lb carbine) then every little ounce here and there matters.
