What is everyone’s experience comparing these two bullets against each other? I am currently shooting the hybrids out of a 26” bartlein on a trued R700. The problem I have with the hybrid is OAL. I am not limited by mag length but rather the feed ramp on the action. To get the hybrid to feed reliably I am jumping them .060”. Did a check this morning and would be able to run the ELD .20” off the lands no problem. I am still shooting the hybrid under .5 MOA at .060” but with them being hard to get right now I am thinking of just switching to the ELD. A quick check on my kestrel at the same velocity has the eld shooting flatter out to 1000 and bucking the wind better. Is this what everyone else has experienced?

I’ve experimented with both bullets you mentioned with the same results. My rifle is chambered for the 140 eld and they shoot best with a .020 jump. I ran across a couple boxes of hybrids to try, and to feed through my mags they are jumping .050. Although the hybrids shot well jumping I’ll likely just stick to the eld’s. Best part is they are a bit cheaper, easy to find, and still shoot very well out to 650 yards which is as far as I’ve been able to test them so far. At 650 the eld has been only slightly flatter.

Thanks for the reply. I’m going to load some eld’s and see how they shoot.

It's been a while since I tried Hybrids, but my experience was similar to TnBowhunter's. I have run 140 ELDM's and 143 ELDX's for the past 2 years in .260 and 6.5 SAUM with great results. Jump .020-.025". I don't shoot well enough to notice a difference in performance, then price is a no brainer. I also look at ELDM's as viable hunting bullets. I know guys use hybrids but I'm just not sold on the OTM style projos for hunting. That last bit is personal preference/opinion.

I agree with everyone so far. I had a trued 700 action, and to keep hybrids mag length (just barely) I was jumping them 60 to 70 thou. They shot pretty well, but the ELDs I could seat 20 thou off and they shot lights out. Also, I can go to my local dealer and get as many as I want for less money than the Hybrids.
