I think they may be misjudging how much of this the average American will put up with. The "walk away" movement is real, and the more the left insists on doubling down on hate and identity politics the more people will decide they are fed up and leave. Some of those folks are re-discovering conservatism and looking for a party (or even just a candidate) that believes in individual freedom. Others are just removing themselves from the political process altogether, too disgusted with everything to participate any longer.
