Maggie’s I'm glad I don't live in England anymore.

@cupid stunt while your thoughts on leaving the Orwellian nightmare the UK has become are in the "centre of the V-bull" so to speak. Your views on the average US member of this site caring about what the English think isn't even on the target frame, we care even less than we do of the liberals that infest our larger cities thoughts....

I was referring to your "so we didnt have to give a shit what the British thought" comment.... Seems to me if you are from an English speaking family there's a good chance you might care more about what the British think than you realise. just a thought :)

You thought wrong.
BTW, we spell it "realize".
That's with a Z.
Z is pronounced zee, not zed.
Zed's dead...

Good to see you are all open to new ideas and points of view from a different country.

I simply make a point on a forum and have been attacked by several people I don't know and have never met. Thanks guys.

Nobody is attacking you.

We simply pointed out to you that you still are not allowed to carry handguns for self defense or even own them. And God forbid some scumbag breaks into your house. You shoot him, chances are YOU might be the one charged with a serious crime.

That's pretty fucked up don't you think?

Gotta keep it real up in here.

no....youll just get knifed on the streets of london.....

gun crime may be low....but your knife crime is skyrocketing.....and statistically speaking, you are just as likely to die from a stabbing a you are from a shooting.

but please tell us how much better you are without handguns...

Frankly I am more afraid of getting stabbed than getting shot. Studied knife work both here and in China and the sheer amount of damage a determined knifer can do in a very short amount of time is staggering and sobering.

I am glad to be living in a place where I can carry a handgun. THAT is what is keeping me safe. If some fucker pulls a knife, I am shooting to kill right there. Period. End of story.

Yes you make a very good point.....we had a famous case of a 70 year old farmer shooting a burglar dead a few years ago and the farmer ended up in prison. That is fucked up.

We have had a lot of stabbings but the part of the story you might not see in the US is that 95% of them happen in a few ghettos in East London, Its gang bangers killing other gang bangers so the police don't bother investigating it too hard. Just natural selection for them.

Look I wasn't trying to criticise the US system at all, (you guys have pretty thin skins) I was pointing out that while our laws are restrictive it doesn't stop us enjoying shooting or hunting. The UK isn't a shit hole, but bits of it are just like the US. A lot of the stories that make it stateside will be from our large cities where the ghettoes have been allowed to develop.

We have exactly the same breed of Communist / Libtards trying to slowly strangle the country. They are like a cancer and they do try to restrict what we shoot whenever they think they will get away with it. And we can still shoot .50 cal (a recent attempt to ban them failed).

@jim996

It is not "thin skins"- it is the contempt of those that choose to live under tyranny.

It's not just your gun laws, or your inability to defend yourself- what was once a basic tenant of common law, your survelience state gives the NSA wet dreams and your thought /speech crimes would make Solzhenitsyn shiver

Tony Martin , I heard all about it, he shot dead a diddicoy.

Wherever you go that I can think of including the US there are stupid laws, I can legally build open bolt Sten guns till the cows come home without special authorisation, that can't be done in the US... there is nowhere perfect, The UK is about the worst place for any freedom lover to live, and I don't think you fully understand that. Get out of the UK while you can, it's not as difficult as you think... I just got off a plane with the Mrs and no paperwork, I'm still here and a Canadian citizen 15 years later.

You don't know what you are missing.

I'm glad to be safe in a place where I don't need or want to carry a hand gun. Nobody carries a gun around here, there is nothing stopping me carrying a shotgun or rifle around in public, but if I did that everyone would think I was an idiot. Rural Saskatchewan is a pleasant place to live, it's a place where the traffic stops without fail if an old person or a child stands at the side of the road. Long may it continue.

PS, Almost everyone has a gun, they just keep it under the seat of their truck. :)

PPS, This is my truck gun, I have used it a few times, I last used it to put a deer with a broken leg out of it's misery.

Beats a hand gun any day.

PPPS :) That rifle was originally destined to be sold in the US. It ended up in Canada because the US banned it's import.

But I am sure you can also carry a handgun if you wished. You own 4 handguns already. Handguns are a urban-surburban necessity because of their ability to be carried discreetly.

Beautiful country you are residing in right now too. Rural Canada is no different than the rural US, especially in the midwest farm and pasture belt. A lot of Old West heritage and history. Of transcontinental railroads, miners, logging camps, gunfighters and outlaws, and Native American legends of magical beings. I read that this part of Canada also got some ghost towns from the pioneer days. You might still yet find the rusted receiver and barrel of a Winchester rifle in those rolling grasslands somewhere, left there by a long gone trapper or logger.

I could do that but not legally, there is no need in any case. To me hand guns are for short range fun I don't take them seriously
Here's my latest , it was a Christmas present from the wife...........

There are old abandoned towns all over the place , the nearest town to where live is just that. The last resident moved away just last year.

Lot's of Indians here, when I first came here I lived on Cowessess Indian reserve. They are nice enough but completely mad.... I used to fix their guns for them.

Earlier I had been thinking about what movie(s) I should watch later in the day...This thread has made up my mind for me:

Ok then. We in the US have a lot of shootings but the story you might not see in the UK is that 95% of them happen in our ghettos too. The actual likelihood of getting shot in the US is extremely low and not even something you'd have to give a second thought to. Here you're more likely to get killed in a car accident than shot.

I think the media has a lot to blame in this. Our left wing media portrays the US like it's the Wild West....everyone wearing a gun on their hip and bullets flying every time you go to the shops. Whenever I've been to the US I have always had a good experience and found everyone to be very polite and helpful, I've never felt threatened.
