Night Vision variable magnification thermal

I was wondering if scopes can have 7 or 8 increase in magniication (1-8x, 4-28x...) why can't thermals. I understand limitations in length, but a thermal with a 60 focal length lens and 1-8x magnification would be amazing, especially with 1-4x digital zoom. Wide field of view for up close and zoom for longer range. Pretty much throw a thermal sensor behind a quality optic.

The issue will be being able to detect the temperature differences through one or more lenses. Not saying it can't be done, but it probably has some pretty strict requirements.

Notice they say nothing about pricing. Probably falls into the category of "If you have to ask..."

5x is not enough, want 7 or 8x zoom...

Curious about price, but probably more than the cost of my house...

Also with a maximum shock rating of 10g, a heavy barreled 22lr is all it will be able to take.

Considering it looks similar to the systems used in the big aircraft-based IR sensor balls, you're probably not far off.

In the short run, get an LWTS-LR long distance thermal clipon and put a VPO behind it !!

They can. Just issue with recoil and added price is my guess. These have been out for years.
